🚨 Important Update: 540-Day Automatic Work Authorization Extension 🚨

USCIS has extended the automatic Employment Authorization Document (EAD) validity period for up to 540 days for certain eligible categories. This ensures uninterrupted work authorization while renewal applications are pending.

Who Qualifies?

The extension applies to individuals in the following categories:

✅ Refugees (A03)
✅ Asylees (A05)
✅ N-8 or N-9 Nonimmigrants (A07)
✅ Citizens of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, or Palau (A08)
✅ Individuals granted withholding of deportation/removal (A10)
✅ Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries (A12)
✅ Spouses of certain E nonimmigrant visa holders (A17)
✅ Spouses of L-1 nonimmigrants (A18)
✅ Asylum applicants with pending applications (C08)
✅ Adjustment of Status applicants under Section 245 (C09)
✅ Cancellation of Removal applicants under NACARA and other special rules (C10)
✅ Creation of Record applicants (C16)
✅ TPS applicants with prima facie eligibility (C19)
✅ Section 210 Legalization applicants (C20)
✅ Section 245A Legalization applicants (C22)
✅ LIFE Legalization applicants (C24)
✅ Spouses of certain H-1B visa holders with H-4 status (C26)
✅ VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) self-petitioners (C31)

How It Works

1️⃣ You must file your renewal application (Form I-765) before your current EAD expires.
2️⃣ The category on your current EAD must match the eligibility category on your renewal application.
3️⃣ The extension ends when your renewal is approved or after 540 days, whichever comes first.
