The New Promotional Product Standard: Why Consumers Want Brands to Give Them Something They’d Actually Buy
For decades, promotional marketing operated on a simple premise: put a logo on something useful and give it away.
Pens. Tote bags. Drinkware. T-shirts. Keychains.
The formula worked because promotional products were inexpensive, practical, and capable of keeping a brand visible long after an event ended.
But consumer expectations have changed.
People have more choices, more sophisticated tastes, and more exposure to brands than ever before. They are increasingly selective about what they keep, carry, wear, and use.
That is creating a new standard for promotional marketing.
The best promotional product may be the one people would have wanted even without the logo.
