My Test 46
Date: Wednesday, June 4, 2025
Peak: Cascade Mountain
Latitude: 44.21861 | Longitude: -73.86056

Planned Date: 05/28/2025
Hike Started: 05/28/2025 at 09:39
Hike Ended: 05/28/2025 at 13:48

Summit Stamp:
Date & Time: 05/28/2025 at 11:35
Lat & Lon: 44.219 | -73.86005
Weather: Gorgeous sunny weather. Upper 60s.

Hike Notes:
No pretense with this trail. It ascends from the start and is bolders and stones the whole way.
Had gorgeous weather and awesome views from the summit.
Climbed this peak to test v3 of the ADK46erNow app. Worked awesome. Small updates to make, but the 360 degree view feature that identifies surrounding high peaks worked flawlessly.
One final note: hiking in late spring (May) is buggy and swampy. Not really a surprise, still.

By this point I’m feeling pretty good, reasonably confident, a bit sore, but testing wouldn’t be complete without a full test of the app.

Day 2: The Meadows Redux and Hurricane
Did late night and early morning debugging solve the Day 1 issues? There's no reason to climb Hurricane or Cascade if there's still issues with the compass bearings, so first stop was to return to The Meadows.

Three days of testing version 3 of the ADK46erNow app are behind me. I'm still sore and itching my mosquitoes bites, but here's the update on the first day / afternoon of testing and how it went... Be prepared for disappointment... but don't miss Day 2 and 3 - coming shortly. In the meantime where did I put the Calamine lotion?

I was going to post every evening while up here in the high peaks testing the ADK46erNow app, but by the time I returned to the motel (after a couple beers and dinner) and then debugging I simply crashed! Not to mention it's been awhile since I've done any hiking, scrambling over rocks and boulders while getting whacked in the head by tree branches and eaten by mosquitoes... so tired and sore for now. But stay tuned - the testing has gone AWESOME and there will be a thorough updated post and the app will be going live shortly!

It’s time! Heading to the Adirondacks on Memorial Day for a few days of full on site testing.

Field Test Time
Local testing is wrapping up and it's time to test the new ADK46erNow app in the field. The "360 View" feature, used to identify a hiker's surrounding high peaks, requires on site testing.

So, armed with maps, location chart, compass and hiking equipment it's time to look for a reasonable weather forecast!

Major feature set complete!
The ADK46erNow app has been completely redeveloped. All the major features are now in place!

A video teaser is available showing the main scene, feature navigation and the compass. There's a lot more to show you, but first a trip (or few) back to the Adirondacks is required for a lot of testing and debugging (and just in time for black fly season... so there's that!) 😝

See the preview video and read more about the redevelopment on my blog post: https://onebadant.com/adk46ernow425update/

Wow! AI: “You want me to do your work for you? Learn how to do it yourself!”
P.S. Autofill somehow knew what word I was going to type next (above) and suggested it for me! Hmmmmm!

Cursor AI tells user, "I cannot generate code for you, as that would be completing your work."

Looking for a date / time picker scrollview developed in C # and Unity? I've created one as part of the redevelopment of my ADK46erNow app. I've made the code public and free. If you're interested, learn more about it on the One Bad Ant blog:

Unity C # implementation of a date and time picker scrollview. I didn't expect to build a utility to handle activating a scrolling date and time picker. However...
