10/18/2023

As of 1:30pm today, Wed 10/18/2023, we are experiencing an outage caused by our upstream fiber provider effecting all Compunet Internet customers.

1:30pm
Our upstream fiber provider has reported an optical loss of signal between Rock Springs, WY and Farson WY effecting all Compunet Internet customers. It is a possible fiber cut, or other fiber related issue related to their hardware. We will provide updates as we receive them.

9:45pm
The fiber has been repaired. All services have been restored.
We are awaiting details of the root cause and have no further details at this time.

Due to the nature of this outage, fiber repairs may involve excavation along the highway to locate the fiber, dig it up, splice cable, and confirm everything is working. This is a major undertaking and while we all want it to be up as soon as possible, these things can take time. We understand your frustration, and are right there with you.

** During this outage:
It is okay to "Power Cycle" (Unplug and Plug back in) your equipment.

No NOT perform a factory reset of equipment (IE: do NOT use a pin/pen to press the reset button on any equipment), as you will lose your wifi name, and other settings that will set your equipment to default and your internet may not come back online when the fiber cut is repaired. ***

10/06/2023

As of 10am today, Friday 10/6/2023, we are experiencing an inbound fiber cut effecting all internet customers. Fiber crews are dispatched and we will provide updates as we receive them

11:30am
Fiber cut has been verified along Wyoming 191 effecting several counties and cities including Farson, Pinedale and Jackson Wyoming. 911 Services along 191 near Pinedale may be effected.

Update: EMS Reports 911 and phones are down in Pinedale and surrounding areas in Sublette County addition to the Jackson, WY Data Services. Updates from them can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/SubletteEMA/

12:30pm
Fiber cut has been localized to the Rock Springs area. This means that the outage is effecting most parts of Western Wyoming. We will continue to post updates as we get them. We are as frustrated as you are and are working to resolve the issue.

2:30pm
We continue to push and escalate our ticket with providers of the fiber. There have been no updates provided to us in the last 2 hours.

5:30pm
Dispatch out for a Lumen tech to test and isolate.

6:30pm
Our fiber uplinks have been restored. We have little details on the fiber cut or what was repaired at this moment, but will continue to update this post with details

There was a fiber cut, interfering with our ISP customers, that started at 9 am on 8/26/2023. Crews from multiple companies tested, located, excavated the ground, and repaired the fiber by laying and splicing thousands of feet of new fiber by 1:30am Sunday morning after a massive day and night undertaking. This fiber is what feeds our towers and delivers Internet to Compunet Internet customers.

UPDATE History:
** All sites report back online as of 1:30am Sunday Aug 27 **
If you unplugged any devices during this event, make sure to plug them back in to the same ports that they were originally plugged into.

During this outage:
It is okay to "Power Cycle" (Unplug and Plug back in) your equipment.

No NOT perform a factory reset of equipment (IE: do NOT use a pin/pen to press the reset button on any equipment), as you will lose your wifi name, and other settings that will set your equipment to default and your internet may not come back online when the fiber cut is repaired.

We lost our brother in arms last weekend. Jon Beeson was out hunting, or "hiking with a gun" as he put it, when he had a sudden cardiac failure ultimately ended his life at age 45. Jon was survived by his wife Tiffany and his two daughters Sydney and Casey.

He was very savvy when it came to the world of technology, which is what made him an integral part of the Compunet team. He was supportive of his neighborhood and Morning Star Baptist church community in Alpine. He was a trusted colleague, a fun guy, a pal to call on, a righteous dude, a good man, a shoulder to lean on, and the friend we all wish we could be, Rest In Peace. 💜

Below is the link to the funeral home and his visitation service will be at the Morning Star Baptist Church on the 11th from 5-8pm and a celebration of life on the 12th at 11 am also at the Morning Star Baptist Church.

Jonathan Earle Beeson, 45, of Alpine, Wyoming, adored and dedicated husband, father of his two precious girls, beloved family member and friend to many, passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack on the afternoon of October 29, 2022 while hunting in Bondurant, Wyoming. He will be greatly and dee...
