“Everybody” wants America to beat China in the AI race.

There’s just one small problem…

AI needs somewhere to live. 👀

AI doesn’t magically float around in “the cloud.” It runs on thousands of powerful computers sitting inside very large buildings called data centers.

Those computers need electricity. A LOT of electricity. They also need cooling, high-speed internet and land.

Meanwhile, China is building AI infrastructure like they’re trying to finish before lunch.

America:

🇺🇸 “We can’t let China beat us in AI!”

Also America:

🏡 “Wait…you’re not putting that data center near MY neighborhood, are you?”

Well…somebody has to tell you.

They’re getting built. 🤷🏾‍♂️

AI infrastructure is becoming what highways, power plants and telephone networks were to previous generations. You can’t lead the next technological revolution without building the infrastructure that makes it work.

Now, communities absolutely should ask about electricity costs, water usage, noise, taxes and environmental impact.

Those are legitimate questions.

But saying America should dominate AI while refusing to build data centers is basically saying:

“We want to win NASCAR…but we’re not really comfortable with cars.”

That’s gonna be a problem. 🧐

The real question isn’t whether data centers are coming.

It’s where they’re going, who benefits, and who’s paying the electric bill.

Because the AI race is already underway…

and apparently “the cloud” needs a LOT of real estate. 💡

That's not a bug. That's how it works.

Here's what happens: AI systems are trained to generate the most statistically likely response. Not the most accurate one. The most likely one.

If the training data contained errors, bias, or gaps, those issues show up in the output.

And because AI is designed to sound coherent and authoritative, you might believe something that's completely false.

This is why responsible AI use comes down to one principle: verify before you trust.

If the information matters, check it.

That includes:
• Medical advice (always consult a doctor)
• Legal guidance (always consult an attorney)
• Financial decisions (always verify with professionals)
• Academic research (check the sources)
• News claims (cross-reference)

AI is powerful. But power without verification is dangerous.

Here's what responsible use looks like:
✓ Use AI to draft, then refine
✓ Verify important information
✓ Protect sensitive data
✓ Stay engaged in the process
✓ Maintain accountability

Here's what irresponsible use looks like:
