We regret to inform you that we have decided to close down AtomicGeek.net. Our last day of business will be May 1, 2021. After that date AtomicGeek.net will no longer be offering advanced Information Technology services or web design/web maintenance services. The decision to close down this business was not an easy one and we enjoyed the relationships with our customers over the years.

If you have an outstanding balance with our company for block hours, please message us immediately to confirm the amount that we owe, and we'll arrange a refund schedule.

We would like to thank all of our customers that we have done business with over the years. AtomicGeek could not have been as successful as it was without your loyalty. Please do not hesitate to message us if you have any questions or concerns or if there is anything at all that we can do to help you through this difficult transition.

It was our great honor serving you all.

Sincerely,
AtomicGeek.net

I should have implemented this sooner. But, the demand for my services is calling me to address this now. Please excuse the delay. My life is complex.

As far as IT Services go for the foreseeable future, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I will not be making any house calls/office calls for computer services, nor will I be accepting computers from clients to work on at home. I will be able to offer limited remote and phone support/consultation via the purchase of block hours on a by appointment basis only. Here's how that works:

You, as an IT client, can purchase a block of IT support time in advance. This could be as little as just a few hours, or it could be more, depending on your technical support needs. Once time has been purchased, you can schedule a call back time or connection time for system support. When calling for telephone support, the duration of time spent conducting phone support, troubleshooting, or consultation would be deducted from the pre-purchased block of time. When you have used all of your block time, you can purchase more time. I would request the payment of block time via PayPal using a provided phone number or email address.

In order for work to be done on your computer remotely, you will require full administrative access to your computer, a live Internet connection, and your computer must already be connected to the Internet. (In other words, if you're locked out of your Windows User account and can't access the desktop, or you can't get online, I will not be able to unlock or access your system remotely.) To start a remote session, this can be accomplished by following these steps to enable on Remote Desktop on your Windows 10 computer:

To Start a Session
-In Windows 10, click on the Start Menu Button on your taskbar.
-Scroll to the gear and click on "Settings". The Control Panel will open.
-Click on icon for "System"
-Under the “System” section, click the "Remote Desktop" link on the left.
-Under the “Remote Desktop” section, select the toggle button to turn on "Enable Remote Desktop" option.
-A window will pop up asking you to "Enable Remove Desktop?"
-Click the Confirm button.

To End a Session
-When the remote session has been completed, follow the above steps and toggle the button to "Enable Remote Desktop" to "Off".
-A Window will pop up asking you to "Disable Remote Desktop?".
-Click the Confirm Button and close the window.

You must provide me with your Windows 10 user name and password, or whatever credentials you use to log into your computer, and your system computer name in order to allow me to connect to your computer remotely. To find your computer name, follow these steps:

In Windows 10
-Click on the Start Menu Button on your taskbar.
-Scroll to the gear and click on "Settings". The Control Panel will open.
-Click on icon for "System"
-Under the “System” section, Scroll to the last link to the left in the window and click the "About" link.
-To the right in the window, your system information will be displayed.
-Provide me with the "Device Name" in order to allow me to access your computer remotely.

During the remote session, you will see your windows lock screen for the duration of the connection. (FYI, by logging in while I am currently connected to your system remotely, you will kick the remote session offline.

I'm sorry if this causes any inconvenience. But this is the safest possible way I could conduct business. If you have any questions about any of this, please reach out to me on my cell. Thanks!

Don't install the Windows 10 October update yet! Many reports are saying that the update wipes user files. You'll need to back up the /user/ directory if you're going to update.

No Joke people...

We are scratching our collective heads as to how the Windows 10 October Update ever made it past Microsoft’s QA teams. According to numerous reports, something about the update could delete the contents of your Windows 10 user folders—you know, your documents, photos, music, videos, et cetera.
