Are you judging a 12-month strategy after just 90 days?
We were recently talking with a CEO who told us he had paused his SEO program after 90 days. *“We didn't see results”*, he said.
But here's what Ahrefs and HubSpot consistently show: SEO takes 6 to 12 months to generate meaningful traction. Paid ads can drive traffic today. But content, brand, and organic search? Those are long-game plays.
The problem wasn't his strategy. It was the expectation.
This is something we see often in conversations with founders and CEOs.
The timelines for each channel aren't clearly defined from the start, so everything gets measured by the same clock.
But different channels operate on completely different timelines. Ads are sprints. SEO is a marathon. Email nurturing is somewhere in between.
Once that CEO saw which channels should deliver in 30 days, which ones need 6 months, and which ones take a full year, it became clear that the strategy wasn't failing. He just hadn't given it enough time to work.
The companies that win are the ones that understand the pace of each channel and don't panic when the long-term plays haven't paid off yet.
Marketing isn't slow. Your timeline might just be misaligned with your strategy.
When you match your expectations to the natural rhythm of each channel, patience stops feeling like a risk, and starts feeling like a competitive advantage.
