Matthew Swarthout is a senior this year at K and his SIP is a play called Acting Shakespeare. The original plot of this play was written by Ian McKellen, but Swarthout is adding his own experiences to it. He was first introduced to Shakespeare when he saw the play, As You Like It. This was also his first introduction to theatre and from there, he fell in love with it....

Pre-COVID courses at K were rigorous, but my professors and classmates made the work well worth it. Studying has never come easy for me, and even now, I still struggle with it but shifting from in-person to online was another level of difficulty....

I don’t remember online courses fondly. I’m one of those students whose learning is best fostered in-person with group discussions, and I’m sure I’m not the only one at K. When we had a full return in the Fall Quarter of 2021, I felt safe to return. Surveillance testing, vaccines, boosters, and faith in the College to make the right decision made me feel supported as a student....
