A Russian internet crime ring has pulled off what could be the biggest internet theft of passwords so far. Tips for building a PC on a Budget

Gaming is awesome, and somewhat expensive….OK very expensive, and sometimes we can’t afford the great builds that we see on the internet, or our buddies home. That does not mean you can’t enjoy the same pleasures without spending the big bucks!

Gaming System on a 500.00 Budget!

Total cost about 525.00 & Used a old XFX GeForce 9600 GTX Video card!

Here are 9 tips for building on a budget and his specs.

1. Make sure you know what you will be using your computer for, so you don’t skimp out or spend more than you should on components you do not need ( or need more than others)- In this case it’s gaming so get ready to search for some powerful components…and a friendly price. TigerDirect.com is a great place to start

2. The two things that most impact a computer’s performance are the CPU and your graphics card (GPU). So keep that in mind when budgeting your build and allocating funds to parts.

3. RAM, yes you can never have enough, this is true. However get what you need now ( trust me you will always need more! ), and always leave space for buying more RAM later on, when you need it!

4. The Motherboards holds everything together but you can find a huge selection at a variety of prices that can fit your budget.

5. When it comes to SSDs, they are finally cheap enough that the average gamer can afford them, and they make a big enough difference in a machine that I think you shouldn’t buy a gaming PC without one.

6. When it comes to the case ( leave space for future additions) . You can get a great case for $100. Remember, Your case should be easy to build in and have good cooling, and be something you don’t mind.

7. When it come to Power Supplies, get one from a reliable brand, Don’t cheap out, but don’t overpay.

8. When it comes to the operating system for a gaming PC right now Win 7 and 8 are essentially the same price when you’re building a new machine, so just pick whichever you prefer.

9. That’s a wrap….have more advice?….leave a comment and share the knowledge!

Don’t forget to check out his specs for a real life example of what to get on a budget and still game like a boss!

Did you know that the TYPE of computer you buy makes a huge difference as to whether it can even be updated? It’s true!

Let’s go over them type by type:

DESKTOPS: Normally easily upgradeable. There large size makes for easy work. You can add more memory, swap out or add Hard Drives, upgrade the video cards, etc. THESE ARE YOU BEST CHOICE FOR LONGEVITY OF USE

LAPTOPS: Varies by model, but most are relatively upgradeable. There small size means the Video card is built-in, so it can not be changed. Likewise, the processor, monitor and motherboard are fixed so they can be replaced, but not upgraded. However, the Hard Drive can be swapped out for a larger one and more memory can be added easily enough.

ULTRA BOOKS: Very much NOT upgradeable. Their small size means that everything is placed in such a way as to make working on them virtually impossible. The newest MacBook Air was the first computer ever to garner a ZERO out of 10 from iFixIt.com in ability to upgrade. Even the Hard and Memory are hard wired in. PC ultrabooks can be just as difficult.

TABLETS: iPad – not at all. Android – Somewhat. Android tablet have USB ports and an SDCard reader. This allows you plug in external devices and add more HDD space easily. I bought an Android tablet with just 4GB of space, and stuck in a 32GB SD for a fraction of what it would have cost me to buy a 32GB iPad. The iPad is what it is. No external ports. No SD card. Buy what you need because it is all that you can get.
