The first phase of our new project with Black Oak Heights Baptist Church was completed in June. This phase was the first of a three phase multi-month installation upgrading all aspects of the church's media department. This project was undertaken with the single goal of improving not only live services, but especially improving livestream and TV program viewing for members of the church unable to worship in person. Phase one consisted of a total lighting overhaul. The previously installed lighting system had three and a half trusses of Leko lights, and Fresnel TV lamps donated to the church nearly 15 years ago from the 700 club. Many of these lights were burned out and presented a challenge of replacement due to price and scarcity of bulbs, as well as necessitating a lift each time a fixture needed maintenance.
Our overhaul removed all of the old fixtures eliminating nearly 1800 pounds of unusable weight from their ceiling. In its place were added multiple moving head fixtures from XBlack and MEGALITE. Additionally, we were able to relocate, and reuse some previously purchased LED moving head fixtures into a more useful location. Additionally, we added 12 DMX relays to provide safety, and fire protection their system previously lacked. Finally, we were able to measure, and color match the temperature of every light to their houselights, as well as match their intensity to be uniform across the entire stage. The result drastically improved visibility for not just the live audience but especially the livestream and TV audience. This first phase set the stage for a new camera upgrade, which was the recently completed phase two. We will make a separate post showcasing that phase of the upgrade in the coming weeks.
The included videos show some events the church has hosted following our upgrade. These events include VBS, a patriotic celebration, and A Night of Champions.
As always THANK YOU Black Oak Heights Baptist Church, we look forward to seeing you through to the end!
