So just another testament to how skilled I can be at fixing things that people think are broken or are just not working the way they should be......
Got a nighthawk x4 wireless router from one of my customers, he said if I could fix it I could have it because he had a new better router and didn't need it, as it was just sitting in his closet collecting dust.
My router that I had before he gave this to me was getting on in years and the nighthawk is much newer. My old one only supported wireless N and this one goes up to wireless AC. Old router only had 1 USB 2.0 port but nighthawk has 2 USB 3.0 and an eSATA port.

Enough said about specs, the nighthawk has a reset button on the back to wipe out current settings and take it back to factory settings. This button did not work and direct connection to the router with a cat 5e cable didn't work either, thee was no wireless signal to try the web interface with, so after researching the issue and going through multiple forums and pages I discovered a post from many years ago that talked about using tftp (trivial file transfer protocol) to connect with the router.
This sounded like just the thing I was looking for. I direct connected to one of the ports on the back and changed my subnet and IP address on my laptop to match the default setting for what the default gateway and default router ip usually are from the factory, downloaded the most current firmware from Netgear opened an administrators cmd window and used the tftp to transfer the firmware to the router. After a few minutes the router had installed the new furnace and finally there was life back to the thing.

In case anyone was wondering I replaced my old out of date PC with the one I got working from my best friend.

Old computer was as follows....

AMD Phenom Black Edition @ 2.5 GHz (4 cores) on AM2 Socket and 8 GB of DDR2 Memory (800 MHz clock speed) on an Asus MoBo with no USB 3.0 that doesn't have Bios updates anymore because it is too old and was randomly having Clock WatchDog Timeouts and BSODing my system which was annoying as heck...

New Computer is an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 3.2 GHz with HyperThreading up to 3.6 GHz (6 Cores) and a Gigabyte Motherboard with 4 USB 3.0 Ports and 13 USB 2.0 Ports, Gigabit LAN, BIOS Upgrades, and supports up to 32GB of Memory currently it has 4 because I wanted to make sure it was going to work before I invested a bunch of money in the memory. It's quite the leap up from what I was running. The new board has been running for 24 hours solid now and no issues, hopefully it stays that way.

Current total specs on daily driver pc are as follows.

AMD processor from above, 4GB of DDR3 1600 Mhz Ram, 120 GB SSD (Windows Boot Drive), 4 7200 RPM 1TB hard drives, Blu-Ray Burner, 850 Watt Semi-Modular Thermal-take Power Supply, and XFX Radeon R9 270 Video card.

Ok so not really a Win for CPU Repair Central, but one for me personally. I got a Motherboard and CPU from a best friend. He bought a new MoBo and CPU because he thought it was broken, he tried everything he could think of for hours to get it to work. Finally he gave up and bought a newer, faster better board and processor, he's up and running now and happy. I didn't think it was a lost cause and asked if I could have the dead board and cpu to try to get working and he graciously gave it to me. I bought some RAM and installed the board and cpu in a spare case I had laying around and did some troubleshooting with Bios settings and ended up Clearing The Bios and changing PCI Express port that the video card was using and then there was life on the board again. I'm currently typing this message using the MoBo/CPU system that was given to me as a dead board. This is just one more example of how good I am at troubleshooting and fixing computers. If anyone needs PC work done please don't hesitate to Message me on here or text my number. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know so it's probably best to do one or the other first. I do work a full time job but I promise to get back to you as quickly as I can about any repairs or other issues you have. Remember my policy is always "IF I CAN'T FIX YOUR ISSUES, THERE IS NO CHARGE!!!!" if you have problems and need them looked at there is literally no reason not to at least contact me and find out what I can do for you. You'll either get the problem fixed for cheap or there's no charge, it's a win/win situation no matter how you look at it. Thanks for anyone who is actually following my page and if you like this post please share it with your friends.

True story... Sold a computer a couple months ago, the person that bought the computer had been burned by buying a used computer before from someone online and we're afraid that was going to happen again. shortly after the sale the buyer contacted me because the PC stopped working, after being reluctant to let me take it back and fix it, for the fear that i would just steal the money and the computer. They allowed me to look at it. It turned out to be 1 of 2 RAM modules had gone bad. I removed the affected chip and replaced it and returned the computer as promised. I do quality work and always leave my customers happy! Try it out you won't be sad you did!
