Early in my solutions sales career, I created a presentation (which I shared with the hiring team) on why the company should hire me over 35 other candidates. That made the difference and I was hired on the spot.
As a result, we built (http://www.wintheview.com/) which provides a step by step process to help job candidates create a compelling presentation on why they should get the offer. Job candidates have had tremendous success using our tools since 2009.

Interviewing and looking for an edge? Tell your career success stories in the STAR format - hiring managers are looking for this approach. Situation
Describe the situation you were in and the task (challenge) that you needed to accomplish. Describe a specific event or situation where you needed to be creative and proactive to achieve the desired results. Be sure to give enough detail for the interviewer to understand.

Task
Explain the obstacles you had to overcome to reach your results. Often the barriers are lack of resources (people, money, support), lack of infrastructure, or long established practices (and thinking) that needed to be changed.

Actions
Explain what YOU did specifically to achieve your results? You may have been part of a team, so acknowledge the team but focus on your specific actions. Even if you are discussing a group project or effort, describe what you did – not the efforts of the team.

Results
Clearly state the results? What did you accomplish? Be specific and if you have numbers use them as they always impress employers (funds raised, percentage increase in sales, percentage decrease in expenses, product revenues, shortened product to market time line, etc.)
