One of the biggest problems with AI translation is that “correct” doesn’t always mean “natural.”

A sentence can be technically accurate and still completely miss:

* the tone,
* the audience,
* the cultural nuance,
* or the brand voice.

That’s where Sous-chef comes in.

Everybody says AI is becoming incredibly powerful for translation.

And maybe that’s true.

But language is still deeply granular.

A translation can be technically correct and still feel completely wrong:

not on brand,
not natural enough,
too formal,
too simple,
or disconnected from the audience it’s supposed to reach.

That’s why the future of localization is probably not about removing humans from the process.

It’s about giving humans better cognitive tools.

AI can generate language.
But humans still give language meaning, direction, and accountability.

Maybe translators won’t spend the future translating sentence by sentence anymore.

Maybe they’ll spend it:

calibrating systems,
shaping tone,
auditing outputs,
and designing communication itself.

That’s not the end of human authorship.

It’s a shift in what authorship means.
