Try this with your current phone provider.

Call them and ask to change where your main line rings after 5pm.

If the answer is submit a ticket and someone will get to it, that's the actual problem. Not how long it takes. The fact that a five second change sits on somebody else's schedule.

Those are browser changes. You should be able to make them in less time than it took to read this.

That's what the admin portal is for. You get the login, you make the change, it's live.

Support is still there when something real breaks, and it's a local team that picks up the phone. But you shouldn't need them to move a phone number.

Here's a reality of what's happening in today's world.

A car accident happens and dispatchers get buried in calls about the same wreck.

Twenty people reporting one crash, while someone with a chest pain call waits in the queue behind them. The AI picks up the duplicate crash reports so a human stays free for the emergency that hasn't been tended to yet.

AI isn't replacing the dispatchers. They're just stopping them from being buried on repetitive calls.

That's worth sitting with if the idea of AI answering your business phone makes you uneasy. The fear is usually that a machine will be handling the moment that actually matters.
