Upgrading your computer can get some extra life out of it, and cheaper than buying a new one.

Just finished doing an "all out" upgrade on a customer computer to Windows 10 64bit (Free) from Vista 32 bit; including maxing out the memory ($75) and replacing the hard drive with an SSD SanDisk ($80). This computer will provide a few more good years for the customer (all things being equal of course). We also had to convert 100 plus Microsoft Works files to be used in Office 365 and a few other tweeks. Computer is humminmg along and the customer is happy...the way it should be (Priceless).

I get questioned a lot on my recommendation for what's the best anti-virus program...specifically the best "free" program. There are some really good programs available, but my recommendation and personal favorite is Sophos Home.

When you register, you are entitled to 10 installs on both Windows and Mac computers.

Beware of Tech Support Scams

I received a call today from a customer saying that they were getting pop-ups on their computer instructing them to call "Scam Inc." Scam Inc was sending a message to the customer informing them that they detected a virus and want to help remove it from their computer....the customer was wise not to respond but did need help getting the scam pop-up and program removed.

Please be aware of phone calls and web ads insisting on accessing your computer.

Never give control of your computer to a third party unless you can confirm that it is a legitimate representative of a computer support team with whom you are already a customer.
