Good food, great company, and a whole lot of appreciation! 🍔☀️

Last Thursday, the CP Direct team came together for a company cookout, with our managers and leaders firing up the grill and serving meals across all three shifts. We even paused production so everyone could step away from the machines, enjoy a meal, and connect with their coworkers.

It was also a chance to welcome our new Chief Executive Officer, Dayna Neumann, and spend some time together outside our usual workday.

At CP Direct, we know it takes a dedicated team to keep things moving, and we're grateful for the people who make it all happen. Thanks to everyone who helped make the day special! ❤️

🖨️ Print Trivia Time!

Before marketers had clicks, QR codes, landing pages, or conversion tracking, they had something wonderfully simple… the coupon.

And one of the earliest coupons ever printed has a pretty recognizable name on it: Coca-Cola. 🥤

Back in 1887–1888, Coca-Cola used coupons offering consumers a free glass of Coca-Cola to encourage people to try the relatively new beverage. The offer was distributed through advertising and direct mail, giving Coca-Cola a simple way to get its product into people's hands.

Coupons became an important part of direct mail because they gave marketers something they desperately wanted: a way to measure response.

A customer could clip a coupon, bring it into a store, mail it back, or redeem a special offer. Suddenly, that piece of mail wasn't just sitting in someone's mailbox. It was connected to an action.

And that helped transform direct mail from “We sent it. Hope it worked!” into a channel marketers could actually track and learn from.

Pretty impressive for a little piece of paper. 😉

Today, we have a lot more ways to measure response, but the basic idea is still the same:

Give people a reason to respond, and give yourself a way to measure it.

Now that's a piece of print history worth clipping. ✂️📬
