We are excited to announce we have completed the last backhaul upgrade from Las Dispenses to Skyline/Rociada/Penderies today! We have quadrupled capacity and dropped latency by 16ms. This weekend we will be opening up channels and balancing distribution.

It's been an unusually rough lightning season. Last night we repaired our third site to be damaged by lightning this year. A site that has gone 20 years without a hit. Nonetheless, as we completed repairs we got to appreciate another beautiful Las Vegas sunset! If you look closely you can see our tower behind the state hospital as a silhouette.

Announcement!

For 24 years now, DesertGate has been designing a community specific Internet Service aimed at providing customers equal and fair access. We delivered service to over 500 new customers who had no options for Covid and were the first service provider to rebuild/restore after the fires.

Our network is in constant progressive design. Airfiber is the most rapidly evolving technology out there and we are happy to announce three new items to our product line:

Ubiquiti AP WAVE Gen2: 60 GHz + 5 GHz multipoint base station featuring 90-degree sectoral coverage, 2.7 Gbps symmetrical speed, and antenna connectors for 5 GHz range extension. This can deliver speeds 3 times faster on download and 15 times faster on upload than satellite services like Starlink. We have already begun deployment in Las Vegas city and will continue to press it out to the edges of the network. If you are in town and interested now contact us to see if your area is qualified.

Tarana G1 Licensed base nodes, capable over 200Mbit per customer THROUGH TREES. we are super excited to start these deployments to cover the high mountain forests and the heart of the valley near the river, Traditional problem spots for our prior technology.

Aviat WTM 4800 Multi-band 80 GHz Backhauls, capable of delivering 10Gbit speeds to remote mountaintops for home delivery back into the valleys. These licensed units are industrial grade and provide a massive upgrade path for our remote areas. We have already deployed one to the north and will now deploy one to the south.

And don't forget our DesertGate Now service, capable of being fully mobile with a unit that has an integrated 8hr backup. We started this in the spring and are almost sold out of our first product round!

UPDATE: Las Dispensas backhauls have been replaced and are performing amazing! Next upgrade is from Las Dispensas to Skyline Ridge overlooking lower Rociada and Pendaries this week.

Announcement:

While the lightning hit in Las Dispensas created some unneeded stress to repair, the upgrades we performed las week set the stage for an upgrade to a multigig 11G state of the art backhaul . We are scheduled to complete the upgrade next week and the result will be 5X more capacity and signicantly lower latency for the Las Dispensas, Rociada, Canyoncito and Penderies service areas. It has been a rough week with very little sleep for our engineers who have been trying to sustain two remote solar sites (El Creston/Ojitos Frios and Sapello) that were damaged last Sunday by lightning. Both sites are power hungry and difficult to get to. The batteries banks, among other gear, were shot. Trouble has been some components were partially damaged but appeared to be working, still, the power was dropping in the early morning .

The high capacity lithium batteries we need aren't coming until next week , so we have been using all we have in stock to hold, but it has been dropping power because the sites need more capacity.

We want to thank local Cary Lane and his crew at Energy Concepts. They just hooked us up with very high end battery systems to help our critical status. We completed Sapello a few hours ago and we will head out at 4AM to the El Crestone mountain to swap batteries there. There will be some down time but it shouldn't be long as we have already replacing everything else.
