📢 Attention business owners!

Safeguarding your business from cyber threats is of utmost importance in today's digital landscape. Here's a valuable tech tip to strengthen your firewall security:

Tip of the Day: Regularly update and patch your firewall!

Your firewall acts as a critical defense mechanism against malicious attacks, but its effectiveness can diminish over time if not properly maintained. Stay one step ahead with these proactive steps:

1. Keep your firewall software up to date. Regularly check for updates and install the latest patches provided by the manufacturer. These updates often contain vital security enhancements that protect your network from emerging threats.

2. Configure your firewall with strict access controls. Only allow necessary network traffic and services, and block any unauthorized attempts to access your systems. Review and update these rules periodically to align with your changing business needs.

3. Implement intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS) alongside your firewall. IDPS helps identify and block potential intrusions by analyzing network traffic patterns and detecting anomalies.

Remember, a well-maintained and up-to-date firewall is your first line of defense against cyberattacks.

Please stay vigilant when using your computers, phones, and tablets! Buying firewalls and anti-virus software are necessary, but are usually defeated by YOU, the user. Please be aware of attempts to "social engineer" you into giving up your credentials (for anything) by having you click a link to a bogus web site and provide your real-world credentials. Check the address bar of your browser and make sure you are logging into the site you think you are logging into!

Cyber Security, Malware, Computer Virus! Please stay vigilant when reading your email and opening attachments. Unless you are expecting a ZIP file, never open a ZIP file attachment. IF you receive an email from someone you don't know, just delete it. Never open unexpected attachments, even if they are from people you know. They might be infected too. Keep your protection software up to date. Make sure your Windows Update is up to date! The weakest link in your computer security is YOU. The best hardware firewalls and protection software are rendered useless if you are opening infected attachments from your personal email.

Scam Alert: With the release of the new Apple Watch, cyber criminals are jumping on the bandwagon and are using email and social media to try to trick you into clicking on links, entering contests, or forward messages to your friends with false promises of a free watch. Don't fall for it. If you are interested in an Apple Watch, do not click on links in emails, do not click on ads or links in Facebook or Twitter, but go to the website yourself. Remember, Think Before You Click!
