30 years ago, two very young and naive kids decided to open a computer repair business. We knew NOTHING about running a business and were just foolish enough to not be scared. With a couple thousand dollars borrowed from our parents, we launched Infinity Computer Services. For the first year, I continued to work a full-time job while Ken went on business service calls. At night, I did the books. Finally, in February 1997, we moved into the space on West Gore Boulevard that we still occupy (yep, we've paid a LOT of rent in the last 29 years!).
Over the last 30 years, we have seen a ton of changes and we have made every mistake that business owners could possibly make. When we opened, the industry was just changing from 486 processors to Pentium I and from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. We have watched many other computer companies come and go in Lawton and somehow we have survived. Our philosophy has always been that we didn't need to get rich (and we definitely have not) but we always wanted to be able to sleep at night, knowing that we did right by our clients.
When you own a small business, you become very well acquainted with your regular clients. We have been so fortunate to have such amazing clients, sometimes for multiple generations. We have watched our clients raise their children, welcome grandchildren, open businesses, retire, and everything in-between that life gives us. Of course, the saddest and hardest part is that we also have mourned the loss of too many clients. Some of you have literally been with us through this whole journey and you have seen us at our best and our worst. Your loyalty has been the driving force in keeping this business going. And the best part of running this business is when a long-time client stops by to ask a question and we end up chatting for a while.
So to everyone who has been a part of this journey, thank you so much for your support! Sometimes, a smile from a client is all that keeps us going on our most difficult days. We don't know how much longer we will be doing this, but as long as we are, we will continue to give the best service we possibly can because our clients deserve the best!
