Do you have opinions? Ever wanted to wield them in such dramatic fashion as to shape an entire industry’s awards season? If you answered “yes” to both of these questions, you’re most likely Marrow’s creative director: Adam Brown.

For better or worse, two AAF chapters and one district asked Adam to judge their American Advertising Awards competitions this year. Join Adam on his “JUDGE TOUR” for a behind the scenes look at all the travel, all the food, and all the officially solicited opinions he’s allowed to share in our stories.

It's no secret Chicago is in love with Kentucky bourbon, but it's having an affair with Kentucky gin. đŸ„ƒđŸ˜łđŸž

Read Chicago Food Magazine's interview with Marrow client, Transformation Spirits, about the buzz their gins are making on the competitive Chicago spirits scene.

"People have asked us, 'Why make gin, and why make gin in bourbon country?' We have a passion for gin and knew that gins and botanicals (vermouth, amori, aperitif, liqueurs) are seeing a resurgence in the US and worldwide. It's been the great balancing act that has made us an amazing team and has given Transformation Spirits its adventurous flavor and unique perspective." -- Tara Ogden, Co-Founder & CMO.

As the buzz of Chicago Gin Fest slowly faded away, we caught up with one of our favorite new distillers, Transformation Spirits, and their founder, Tara Og

With a halftone aesthetic featuring Ad Club Lexington’s brand color palette, the design system creates a consistent look across multiple mediums, generations, and tropes. We designed 21 “Call for Entry” poster variants featuring three ads from each decade.

Some takeaways

1.) You simply can’t not feature Apple in pretty much every decade since the 80s. We managed some restraint though, highlighting only the 1984 and iPod silhouette spots.

2.) Creative irreverence increases exponentially after nearly going off the rails in the 90s. The 90s
 they were weird.

3.) It’s nearly impossible to account for all the creativity the ad industry kicked out over the last seven decades. So many collective memories owe their stickiness to the brands that built cultural flashpoints around commerce.

Six more months and over a thousand miles stand between us and SXSW 2020. Lucky for Kentucky, some Lexingtonians got impatient and decided to host their own conference for technology, entrepreneurship, and creativity.

The inaugural TECX19 conference kicks off in Lexington on Thursday (9/19). Tech, entrepreneurial, and creative leaders from across Kentucky and the nation will share their insights, stories, and projects. It all take place over three days in downtown Lexington and on UK’s campus.

Among them
Marrow’s creative director, Adam Brown. Come watch him make a halfhearted attempt at professionalism on Saturday (9/21) at 1:00 in the Gatton Student Center’s Worsham Cinema.

Tickets are available at tecx19.com. Code it. Dream it. Make it.

Everyone from multibillion dollar venture capital firms to your arthritic Aunt Karen keeps talking about CBD. We've got CBD-infused gummies, personal lubricants, pillow mists, and a "medicated" breakfast cereal. (It's called Froot Poofs. And yes, it's real.)

Once the smoke clears, which brands will continue to flourish? And more importantly, what will they have done differently over the next 5 years?

In 2019, h**p and CBD are attracting serious businesses and snake oil peddlers. Once the smoke clears, which brands will flourish and what will they do differently over the next 5 years?

To everyone who spoke, checked-in, took notes, sold merch, changed minds, grabbed hearts, had fun, ran A/V, and drank coffee at ... we cannot thank you enough.

We’re honored to have sponsored, helped organize, and presented at the biggest Interactive Social yet. More importantly, we were inspired by the “big f*cking answers” in the room. With folks like Dregos, Jessica Bellamy, and Draplin Design Co. working in the world, we’re ready to design the future with open hearts and open minds.

Special thanks go to the following who gave a damn and helped pull the whole thing off:
AAF Lexington (Become a member.)
Mediocre Creative (Start a project.)
The Casual Pint (Lexington, KY) (Grab a drink.)
Lexington Public Library (Read a book.)
Broomwagon Coffee + Bikes (Sip a coffee.)
Good Foods Co-op (Eat something good.)
