LigTel Communications "Service is our most important and sellable product; and our second is preventative maintenance."

LigTel was founded as Ligonier Telephone Company in 1896 by Harry Inks and is now in its 6th generation of family ownership. Today, Ligonier Telephone Company customers enjoy the benefits of a locally owned technology company that has changed and evolved with the times, while never losing sight of the main tenets of business Inks established more than a century ago. Our corporate philosophy spells

out the President’s interpretation of the will of Harry Inks and his son, Burl, who remain as the foundational bricks and mortar of the company. That philosophy can best be stated as: Service is our most important and sellable product; and our second is preventative maintenance.

We wrapped up a wonderful Employee Appreciation Week with a kayaking trip in Mongo at !

Even without power, their team went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We enjoyed delicious burgers, ice cream, and a beautiful day out on the water.

A huge thank you to Jess, Andy, and the Trading Post Outfitters team for their amazing hospitality and for helping make the day so memorable!

Also, a big thank you to our General Manager, Mike Troup, for making Employee Appreciation Week such a great week for all of us!

Did You Know:
Children ages 8 and younger spend about 2.5 hours per day with screen media, according to Common Sense Media’s 2025 census. By age 2, 40% of children have their own tablet, and nearly 1 in 4 have a cellphone by age 8.

Summer usually means more free time, more devices, and more questions about how to keep everything balanced.

LigTel can help with that.

Come back tomorrow for our first Summer Tech Tip in our new Summer Tech Survival Guide series!

Ever wonder what makes fiber internet different?

Here’s the fun part: fiber sends information using light through thin strands of glass or plastic.

Yep. Your internet is basically traveling as light. Pretty cool, right?

This week’s Tech Tuesday is all about the bright idea behind fiber internet. What fiber optic actually means, how it works, and the “fathers” of fiber who helped make this future-ready technology possible.

Did you know? Dr. Narinder Singh Kapany is often called the “Father of Fiber Optics.”

In the 1950s, Kapany helped prove that light could travel through thin bundles of glass fibers, laying the foundation for the fiber optic technology we use today.

Pretty amazing, right?

What started as an idea about sending light through glass now helps power high-speed internet, streaming, video calls, smart homes, businesses, healthcare, and so much more.

But Kapany isn’t the only person connected to the story of fiber.

Tomorrow, we’re breaking down the “fathers” of fiber and how their work helped shape the future-ready technology we use today.
