Google has begun rolling out the preference for secure sites. Right now you only need to have an SSL certificate (which displays the padlock and https) if you are processing private info on your (host) server. But the future push is to have all websites using encryption for added security of information and privacy. Early SSL adopters, even if you are not required yet to have it, will get an SEO boost (if done properly). Talk to your webmaster and SEO Pro about converting your site! It's easy.

Domain scams are common. You may get many notifications that your domain is about to expire, and offers to renew, but are they from your current registrar? Often, they are not. Since your domain registration is a matter of public record, it is easy for businesses to contact you and try to get you to register with them. They make it sound like it is just a renewal, when in fact, it is a transfer. While many such offers are not illegal, they are certainly misleading. Know your true registrar, so you can ignore false renewal requests!

A Wordpress vulnerability has been discovered, and patched. If you have enabled auto updates for your Wordpress install (recommended) or have ICD Soft as a host (the one I use and recommend) this has already been fixed and you do not need to do anything. Otherwise, an update is in order ASAP! :)

Important SEO news. Google has announced that as of April 21st, they will be "preferring" sites that are mobile responsive. If yours is not, expect to see a downward shift in how well your site does on Google searches.
