Dottie Explains: What's a VPN?

I used to think VPNs were just another tech buzzword, until I got locked out of my work systems while traveling because I’d been using unsecured Wi-Fi. Lesson learned.

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) creates a private, encrypted connection between your device and the Internet. Think of it as a secure tunnel that protects your data from sketchy public networks.

Why it matters (aka, why I care now):
- Encrypts my connection so no one can snoop
- Keeps hackers, advertisers, and even my Internet provider out of my business
- Lets me work safely from anywhere
- Helps prevent sensitive data from accidentally leaking
