Spooky season reminder: the scariest thing in your office isn't a costume. It's the stack of old devices in the storage room with data that was never properly destroyed.

Don't wait for old devices to haunt you. Bruin offers certified data destruction that ensures data doesn't come back to life.

Once the data is gone, we make sure the device doesn't end up in a landfill either.

Q4 planning season is here: budgets, audits, hardware refreshes, year-end reviews.

One thing that rarely makes the checklist: what to do with the retired equipment that's been accumulating since January.

Decommissioned devices don't just take up space. Without documented disposal, they're an open item on any compliance audit, and now is a great time to ensure your bases are covered.

We put together a guide on how to make sure your retired IT equipment is audit-ready before year-end. Link in comments.

The fastest-growing waste stream in the world isn't plastic. It's electronics.

Globally, over 53 million metric tons of e-waste are generated every year — and less than 20% is recycled responsibly.

Here in the United States, we contribute an estimated 10 million metric tons of that annually. That's about 70 pounds per person, per year. Only around 15% gets recycled.

October 14 is International E-Waste Day — a reminder that the devices we upgrade and replace don't just disappear.

For organizations managing regular technology refresh cycles, responsible disposal isn't a one-time task — it's part of how you operate. Bruin has been Central New York's electronics recycler for over 20 years. We handle business pickups, bulk IT retirement, and compliant disposal. Learn more: www.bruinrecycling.com

Cybersecurity gets a lot of attention at the point of access: passwords, firewalls, phishing. Less so at the point of disposal, which is where some of the most preventable breaches actually happen.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month is the perfect time to talk about these. Swipe through for common cybersecurity myths.

Device disposal is part of your security posture. Treat it accordingly.

"In a business like ours where trust is everything, having a team that takes ownership and does things the right way means everything to me." - Jon Nappa, founder of Bruin

That's been the foundation at Bruin since day one. Over 20 years later, it still is.

When you hand over devices containing sensitive data, you're trusting your recycler with more than equipment. You're trusting them with your data security, your environmental responsibility, and your compliance record.

Swipe through to see what that trust actually requires, and how Bruin is built to earn it.

This is what "a few boxes of old equipment" can look like.

Every organization has a storage room, a closet, or a back office with a pile that's been growing for longer than anyone wants to admit. It starts with a laptop. Then a monitor. Then a full hardware refresh that never got properly cleared out.

Bruin picks it up, ensures data is destroyed for contracted equipment, and that nothing ends up in the landfill so your team can get its time and space back.

Storing decommissioned equipment feels like a neutral, harmless decision.

But every month retired devices sit in a storage room, the cost compounds in ways that rarely show up on a single line item. Here's how.

The great news is that responsible e-waste disposal is easy and convenient with Bruin. Tell us what you have, and we'll take care of the rest so you can focus on optimizing your business.
