Hey everyone! Hopefully everyone had a good Holiday + New Year's. I figured with the pandemic still going on, I would give the 2021 GooshiGaming forecast + update of the year.
As a heads up, this is a fairly length post and it's all pretty sad.
I originally intended for this to be a longer post, longer than it is currently, but I don't really want to make a big, sad post. Especially at the start of the New Year, it just doesn't seem right. So I'm gonna try to minimize the damage it's presenting for the sake of having a little bit of confidence for the future.
1) With the exception of a graphic and video person (to help continue some sort of content and not completely fall off), everyone else on GooshiGaming will be put on a "hiatus" until I can better support them. Since Twitch income is the only income I'll be getting from now on, I want to make sure I can survive what I believe will be a rough 2021 for me. With that said, if Gooshi people find better opportunities, they are free pursue those.
2) Doing the casual stream thing hasn't really paid off well, generally speaking. I've had a good handful of people support me immensely, but for the most part, the gains were pretty non-existent, sadly. So from now on:
--- I won't be streaming Saturdays from now on. They were consistently the worst days for me, viewership wise, so I see no need to continue fighting that battle. If I do stream, it's because of "Why not" rather than "It's on my schedule."
--- So on the days I do stream (Wed, Th, Fr, Su), I will do my best to start at my normal 6pm time. But I will not try to do 4 hour streams minimum like I have been. This may change once the Yui VTuber gets finished. Spoilers, Yui VTuber is a thing.
--- For the people that have been supporting me endless, y'all are troopers and I super love you and can't thank you enough. Truly. I mostly feel bad that you're keeping me afloat with little-to-no gains to show for it. At least in Smash I had a lot to show for, this I actually have nothing lol.
3) I won't bore y'all with exact stream data, but for the last 6 months we've been losing average stream viewership. So much, in fact, that we're actually in the single digits for average viewership for the month of December, which is disheartening. We got a good amount of lurkers, which does help the viewership number, but with the chat being empty a good amount of the time, it doesn't really give new people incentive to come in and talk. Even Community Nights, which are by far our best day of the week, has been struggling hard to maintain consistent viewership.
--- Couple all of that stream talk with any of our new apparel just not doing good (or straight up flopping), our 2nd Youtube is doing ok (I think?), and our Twitter followers flocking away (and I know that's a Smash wide thing, but still isn't good), we're just experiencing nearly no growth over the past 9 months.
--- Also, I've learned that, in my case, having a consistent schedule does not help. Streaming daily does not help. Even having a consistent game does not help.
I think that's all I got for the time being? It was all bad news, I know, but I think it needed to be said. It felt like one of those things that people were aware of and knew of its presence, but didn't talk about it to so we didn't have to be sad about it kind of thing? Iunno. If there are typos or something sounds weird/wrong, I'm sorry. I didn't have anyone proofread this so they wouldn't have that sadness of this post on them.
