“Finnick entered the room that the fireflies led him to and inside he found a locked chest on a table. Unsure how to open it, he tried the key his friend Rory the Rhinoceros gave him. The chest opened! It revealed a VIOLIN. The fireflies began to get excited as Finnick grabbed the violin and attempted to play it. He’s never learned to play the violin before…but somehow, magically, he played a perfect song in tune! The fireflies joyously danced around him! And he could have sworn the tree danced with them as well when suddenly flowers appeared on the branches outside. Perhaps Rory was right. Maybe music does make living things grow.” 🎻 Day 30 of . “Inside the large tree, Finnick found himself in wonder. Inside were winding staircases and bridges that went all the way up the tree. There were doors all over. He didn’t know where to go. Until he notice the fireflies going towards a specific direction. And so, just like the stars on the river, Finnick let the fireflies be his NAVIGATOR, taking him up the tree to where he needed to go.“ 🌳 Day 29 of . Word prompt: NAVIGATOR

“Finnick never felt so small. Oliver the Owl guided Finnick the Fox to a JUMBO-sized tree. He’s never seen a tree so large! And built inside the tree, was a large cottage-like structure, possibly Oliver’s home, with small towers and a large door. What awaits inside?!” 🌳 Day 28 of . Word prompt: JUMBO

“”Those crows that attacked you have been searching for the treasures I hide,” said Oliver the Owl to Finnick the Fox. “However, only those willing to meet and learn from new beings and see uncharted places with friendliness, kindness, bravery and curiosity will be able to find what I treasure the most. You see, you would not have reached this far if those you met on your path did not believe you worthy of the map. Finnick, my good-hearted Fox friend, are deserving to see where the map takes you.” And so Finnick followed the owl down the ROAD that leads to the map’s final destination.”” Day 27 of word prompt: ROAD

“Oliver the owl introduced himself to Finnick the fox as an adventure photographer and the creator of that map. I fly through the world, seeing new places and creatures many do not meet. And so, I made some maps and hid them in hope that someone may find one. You have found one of the many that I created.” He points to his CAMERA and says “there is only so much I could capture in photo. 🐦‍⬛” The crows lure Finnick out of the forest and attack him! They tried going for his backpack, the map, the keys, anything they could from him. Suddenly, a giant owl comes out like a SCARECROW, pushing the bad crows away from Finnick. The crows flew away, leaving a trail of feathers behind.” 🦉

Did you know Owls and crows don’t get along. Some owls eat crows and the crows attack them back. And so, I decided to draw natures “scarecrow”—the Owl.

“Finnick went off into the forest to see where the map would take him. Like Rory the Rhino said, he saw trees marked with a similar symbol of the map. But they looked different. He wasn’t quite sure yet if they matched. As he was walking through the forest, he met three crows. He introduced himself and said, “Hello, I’m on an adventure and am looking for this symbol. Have you seen it recently?” They looked highly interested in Finnick’s map…and the key. The leader of the crows smiled and shared they were on an EXPEDITION, searching for great treasure around the forest, digging holes all around. Then he told Finnick they found the symbol somewhere up ahead. “We’ll be happy to show you,” said the crow leader. And so Finnick followed the sketchy crows in the woods.” Day 24 of . “Before separating to go on their own adventures, Rory the Rhino gives Finnick the Fox a RUSTy key he found in the forest that has a similar symbol from the map. “Something tells me you may need this wherever you go” he tells Finnick.” 🗝️ Day 23 of . Word prompt: RUST

“Rory the rhinoceros took Finnick the fox to the waterfall where he’s seen the symbol from the map. When they arrive, they set up CAMP for the night. Rory then tells Finnick his story on how he wandered into nearby forest and found multiple trees with the symbol but warned him that forest contains creatures of trouble.” ⛺️ Day 22 of . “While walking through the giant mushroom forest, Finnick the fox meets a one Rhinoceros band player named Rory. Finnick sees painted on Rory’s drum is the compass symbol on the map. He asks Rory what he does here. Rory says “I like to play music to the mushrooms to help them grow.” Finnick then asks Rory about the symbol and if he’s seen it before. Rory confirms seeing near a waterfall and guided Finnick how to get there.” 🦏

“The path down the mountain ridge took Finnick the fox through an UNCHARTED, magical mushroom forest. There were fungi of all sizes, from as small as a mouse to as large as an elephant!” 🍄

This one was fun! I love learning about fungi so much so I knew I wanted to add mushrooms into my fox adventure story! Some may have noticed my 1st inktober illustration had a little girl with a mushroom backpack. I was trying to foreshadow what would come in the future! 😁
