Atmospheric river event is forecasted to impact much of the West Coast this week. Heavy rainfall, possible mountain snowfall, and strong winds are expected across California this holiday.

The greater than normal travel during the Christmas Holiday will likely expose a potentially larger number of people to life-threatening hazards and was taken into consideration with an upgrade to ‘high-risk’. -

Between 1978 to 2017, atmospheric rivers accounted for more than $42 billion in estimated flood damages across 11 states.

By 2024, approval declined 18 points to 63% — on par with 2022 (65%) — amid visible tensions between the Israeli government and the Biden administration. No other country saw a bigger decline in U.S. approval than Israel between 2023 and 2024.

In 2025, following President Donald Trump’s return to the White House, Israeli approval of Washington has rebounded to 76%, the second-highest level on record for Israel.

For much of Netanyahu’s previous term, which preceded the judiciary overhaul plan, those who approved of his leadership expressed more confidence in the judiciary than those who disapproved.

That pattern shifted in 2019 and 2020, when Netanyahu was indicted on charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. During this period, his detractors reported greater confidence in the judicial system than his supporters. In 2021 and 2022, under Prime Ministers Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, supporters of the sitting leaders again showed higher confidence in the courts, before reversing under Netanyahu’s return to office at the end of 2022.

Combined Distributional Effects of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and of Tariffs - August 12, 2025 -

Key takeaways
1. For all income groups except the top decile, the combination of 2025 tariff increases and the One Big Beautiful Bill Act will reduce after-tax-and-transfer incomes on average.

2. The bottom ten percent of households will see an average reduction of 7 percent in incomes, while those at the top will see an increase of about 1.5 percent.

The results of this exercise are shown in Figures 1 and 2 above, which show average annual changes to after-tax-and-transfer income over the 2026-2034 period. We find that the combination of the OBBBA and 2025 tariffs will reduce resources on average among all income groups except the top decile. Those in the bottom decile will see an average reduction in after-tax-and-transfer income of about $2,700, whereas those in the top decile will see an increase of nearly $8,000 on average.
