🤖 Android: check app permissions now
Some Android apps secretly access your camera, microphone, and contacts. Check yours: Settings → Privacy → Permission Manager. Review Camera, Microphone, and Location. Remove access for any app that doesn't need it. A flashlight app should NEVER need your contacts or microphone. If it asks for suspicious permissions — delete it. 🤖 Android: block spam calls with Google Phone app
On Android (Pixel or Samsung with Google Phone app): Open Phone app → More options (⋮) → Settings → Spam and Call Screen → "Filter spam calls" → ON. Google will automatically screen suspected spam calls and warn you. You can also enable "See caller & spam ID" for real-time warnings. Free, built-in, and works great. 🔐 What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?
2FA = a second lock on your accounts. Even if a scammer steals your password, they can't get in without a code sent to YOUR phone. Enable it on: ✅ Email (Gmail, Outlook) ✅ Facebook & Instagram ✅ Your bank's app ✅ Medicare.gov. On iPhone: Settings → [Your Name] → Sign-In & Security → Two-Factor Authentication. One of the most common scams targeting seniors: a caller says they're from the IRS, Social Security Administration, or Medicare. They say you owe money — or your benefits will be cut — unless you pay RIGHT NOW with gift cards or wire transfer. REMEMBER: Government agencies never call you demanding immediate payment. They never ask for gift cards. They always send written notices first. If you get this call: HANG UP. Report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
