I’ve been putting this off for a while to see how things shook out, but I don’t really foresee any near-future where things improve enough to feel comfortable. So here’s where I’m at:
With the tariffs, my costs have become untenable to keep my current pricing, prototype and launch new designs, and build in sustainably-sized batches.
I’ve also just lost a lot of heart and drive for this business over the past year. I’m feeling pulled in other directions and also work full-time on top of this.
I think at this time its too early to say I am done for good, but I will definitely not have any upcoming launches or restocks any time soon. I can see a future in which I do a batch or two of Greenseers each year but I can make no guarantees. The only way it is feasible for me to offer things to meet demands is 1) If i raise prices, like $20-$30 per pedal and 2) if I move to a pre-order system. I’m not sure I want to do this but I’ve got open ears if anyone has any feelings about it.
Current inventory of Bolines is on deep discount at $90 each (I will make a separate post about this). My lease situation on the workshop has changed so I am trying to get out of that ASAP, so if uou’re on the fence now is the time to buy one!
Should I move to offering preorders?
