This saddens me deeply. LHUCA and FFAT have supported Amy's and my musical endeavors directly. LHUCA commissioned Metropolis Elektro and has hosted countless events that we've been part of over the years. The City Council cut FFAT funding without advance notice to the organization or even a fact-finding conversation about the event in question. Amy and I will personally be donating to LHUCA to help them continue their vital artistic work in Lubbock, and we encourage you to do the same.
We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for First Friday Art Trail and LHUCA. We want to let everyone know that we will not let this stop FFAT! $30,000 is a significant portion of our First Friday budget. LHUCA’s paid local bands, visiting exhibiting artists, free trolley service around Downtown, and statewide FFAT promotion with the tourism dollars it brings could all suffer from this funding cut.
Many of you have asked how you can help, and here are some ways you can do so:
·If you are able, make a donation in any amount in support of FFAT! https://lhuca.kindful.com/?campaign=1191289
·Contact your Lubbock councilperson or the mayor and let them know how important funding FFAT is for our community.
·Simply come to FFAT next week and show the exhibiting artists, performing musicians and dancers, art vendors, and food trucks at our many FFAT venues some much needed love!
We are constantly in awe of our talented arts community and our dedicated audience of arts supporters. Thank you for believing in the arts in Lubbock!
