Mission Statement:
The Lucas Public Library provides literature, up-to-date reference works, digital works, internet access, and a comfortable place for everyone. Vision Statement:
The Lucas Public Library is committed to encouraging people to use the library. Two goals are: increase teen involvement and increase fundraising. (Note: Our vision statement is forever changing, as we accom
plish our goals and look forward to the future.) Our Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Lucas Public Library is to serve the public by providing literature, up-to-date reference works, videos, and internet access. Children's books for ages from toddler to teen, magazines including those of specialized interests, news and science, are to be available to the public. Children's reading is encouraged through the Summer Reading Program and regular story hour. An important aspect of our mission is to help children to be comfortable in the library, and to encourage their reading activities. In addition, the library offers inter-library loan service to patrons to assure that books and other materials on almost any topic can be borrowed. The librarian has no authority to censure or responsibility for the reading or computer interest of the patron. The Lucas Public Library's goal is to provide a relaxing atmosphere and make all patrons feel welcome.
