Life back in Colorado has been busy. Getting the house back in order, new baby here, my other business becoming busier - I simply haven't had much time for my cameras. But there's light at the end of the tunnel. I've been picking up the camera a bit this last week. Visited a private ranch first run by General Palmer - founder of Colorado Springs, builder of the Durango-Silverton RR, and a man with many fingerprints through Colorado's history. It was a beautiful place! Standing in the pasture, it was easy to feel like one might have back in 1895. Very appreciative of the current owner for letting us spend the day relaxing in his little slice of heaven.

My sister just told me about the Trinity fire downtown. I was crushed by the news - although I didn't know it until I learned Trinity was burning, that beautiful old building meant a lot to me, a defining feature of my hometown skyline. I can only imagine what it feels like to actual members of the congregation. I don't know how bad it is, if it can or will be rebuilt, or what actually started it. We'll learn more in the days to come, but in this sad moment, I'll leave this offering. Taken a couple years ago, a memory of what this beautiful monument looked like. I hope it will rise from the ashes to glory again!

Friends, we've been back here in my hometown almost three years, after many years living out west. Madison is a special community - one that still *feels* like a community in this discombobulated era. Despite that fact, it's not the only factor that decides where we live. We also have to consider economic realities, Hannah's family ties, long-term plans, and the little baby on the way. (If you didn't know that part yet, well now you know 😂)

Over the last several months we've come to a decision and set it in motion: We're heading back to Southwest Colorado. It's Hannah's home, and a place that still calls to me, even though the people and culture have changed a LOT in the last decade. It's bittersweet - part of me looks forward to reconnecting with the land I love, and part of me will always miss my family here and the easygoing community that Madison offers. But it's what we're doing, and that's that.

We'll be back to visit, of course, so I'll see many of you. And I'll try to say goodbye in person to as many people as possible over the next few weeks. But you know what? There are too many friends and acquaintances to catch you all... and I guess I'll consider that a blessing. A sincere thank you to all of you for making these last three years such a meaningful time in my life.

I'll be making a go of Freewheel Studios out west as well, so feel free to continue following along to see what life in the mountains with a little one brings us.

Not a pro photo at all, just a phone snap... but seemed appropriate for our snow day. This storm fizzled, but the promises of Snopocalypse reminded me of three years ago, right before leaving Colorado. That's my GARAGE behind Ohwiler the dog. He loved standing on that pile of snow and looking in the kitchen window at me - "hey, let me in, I know you have treats in there" (Goodness my windows were dirty) 😂
