There are so many ways to reduce your carbon footprint. However, fashion is one that is often neglected. Did you know that it takes 2.700 liters of water to make one t-shirt? The stiff plastic of a credit card is remarkably useful for reinforcing damaged laptop chassis, screen hinges, power jacks, etc. Not to mention as an applicator for epoxy or thermal compound, or as a spudger for separating glued components. Suddenly junk mail doesn't seem quite so j***y.

I wonder why there isn't a tiny form factor RAM chip to allow replacement/upgrade in these newer ultra-thin laptops. They did it for solid state drives, why not for memory?

It's high time for a shakeup in Apple's design priorities. They've sacrificed far too much in the name of perceived elegance.

Jony Ive’s departure from Apple gives the company a chance to try something new: working serviceable, reusable parts into their minimal, thin designs.

WHELP, we're here! The place is a wreck, there are boxes everywhere, the workbenches are in pieces, there's no LAN, the server is offline, my main workstation is.....somewhere around here.... but we're getting stuff done!

Well, it's definitely happening! We will close for the weekend of the 12th and reopen on Monday the 14th at our new location: 2317 Upham St! It's kinda behind East High near the intersection with 5th St.

Hey everybody, CTRL+shift will be moving again in the next few weeks! Pretty close to our current location of course; we never move very far. If all goes according to plan, our new office will be at 2317 Upham St. in the Emerson East neighborhood. Stay tuned!

Each time Microsoft pushes out a new Feature Update for Windows 10, I invariably get a slew of calls from people whose machines suddenly don't boot anymore. You're definitely better off deferring these updates for a few months to let quality control catch up.

Buggy updates point at deeper problems.
