Information and conversation is what matters most in bariatric surgery. Many patients have hesitated to get bariatric surgery due to lack of knowledge of what the process is and overall, when it could be one of the most effective solutions for their health. In order for patients to begin an effective start to their healthcare journey we also have to be willing to start a conversation about this and other options. Right now, the vast majority of patients are starting the journey on their own.

By consistently failing to give patients the tools they need in order to act on their referrals there has been a large number of patients who slip through the cracks and never get seen at all. If patients are allowed to manage their own intake at a time that works for them, that will ensure that more of them are screened and matched to the right provider and improve the number of patients who get appointments.
