In the shop this week, a behind-the-scenes look at a 63” x 78” original canvas, flown in from Argentina and hand-delivered by the collector.
We hand-stretch original canvases of virtually any size. All stretcher bars and moulding are cut and built in-house. We use poplar stretcher bars rather than pine, and only solid wood moulding. No plastic. No MDF.
Most shops default to pine. We choose poplar because it is more stable and less prone to warping over time, especially at larger sizes.
Every project is approached the same way, whether it is a museum-scale canvas or a first original from a local artist. The goal is simple. Use the right materials, assemble it properly, and treat the artwork and the person behind it with care and respect.
