🚨 SCAM ALERT – Georgia DDS Text Message Phishing Attempt 🚨
We’re seeing an increase in fraudulent text messages claiming to be from the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS).
These messages typically say you have an “outstanding citation” and threaten:
License suspension
Registration freeze
Additional penalties
They then push you to click a suspicious payment link.
⚠️ This is a phishing scam.
Here’s how to spot it:
❌ Comes from a random phone number (not an official government sender)
❌ Uses urgent threats to pressure you into acting quickly
❌ Contains suspicious or misspelled links (not a verified *.gov site)
❌ Requests immediate payment without official documentation
🔍 Important:
The real Georgia DDS will NOT send citation payment demands via random SMS with direct payment links.
🛡️ What You Should Do:
Do NOT click the link
Do NOT enter any personal or payment information
Delete the message immediately
Verify directly through the official DDS website if concerned
💡 Pro Tip from MindFire:
When in doubt, always go directly to a known official website — never trust links sent via text or email.
If your business or team needs help with cybersecurity awareness training or protection against phishing attacks, MindFire Technologies is here to help.
