Artists frequently have gardens. Picasso had a garden. Frida Kahlo had a garden. Turns out the dude that carved the Abraham Lincoln statue in DC also had an enormous Garden up north in New Hampshire.
I did a workshop on Friday with Jennice Chewlin of the Chewlin group and realized that my garden is one of the things I look forward to the most in summer. I think I knew that but I also maybe didn't realize how much investing in it invests back in me. And right now with my health I need to make sure I'm making choices that invest in me.
Stick around through the whole thing and you will get to peek at my purple basil, pink celery, my tomato plants, my pennroyal, my horehound, nephthala, and my Jerusalem artichokes. You might see a peek of my baptista and you certainly get a good look at my cherries and pawpaw fruit.
I love purple plants so I plant dark purple basil just about everywhere. It gives a nice contrast to the bright greens. The color and artistry in the garden is rejuvenating for me.
If you visit me this summer, you might get some tasty treats of gold, pink or black raspberries. If we're grilling, you might taste some of my purple asparagus. If it's towards the end of the season like deep towards the end of the season, I might even share a bite of Pawpaw with you.
