History:
1991 - started by Gent Cav, a BBS part-time connected to Fidonet with a single 9600 baud modem.
1992 - a second 28.8K modem was added.
1994 - UUCP connection to Internet and a new domain: GIN.com.
1995 - 384K connection to Internet and 25 modems for full ISP operations.
1997 - T1 connections to Internet and PRIs to service dialup customers (92 modems).
1998 - First DSL service using
Paradyne equipment for commercial customers. New domain: G4.net & the name became G4 Communications.
1999 - Introduction development of xConnect product (Carrier Ethernet - first in the nation). Started becoming a CLEC.
2000 - Became a CLEC and started colocating in ILEC Central Offices. OC48 Sonet network upgrade (first Huawei sonet deployment in USA).
2005 - Jan 19th, first telephone call using the new voice switch (Coppercom).
2006 - Started using SIP for voice over IP.
2007 - Two additional voice switches (Taqua).
2010 - Broadsoft VoIP switch installation. Our own Fiber Optic deployment started.
2012 - Major 10G upgrade on IP network: Extreme Switches & Juniper routers.
2013 - WDM technology was introduced to fiber optic network, running SONET & IP on same fiber, created a full redundant ring topology in New Hampshire. Servicing NH E911 network.
2014 Oct - G4 Communications has been acquired by FirstLight Fiber.
