** WED-FRI: Active and Warm Weather Pattern Continues (strong to severe storms possible at times)

Intermittent chances for showers/thunderstorms (some strong to severe) continue through the next several days. The overall-highest chances for storms will focus Wed evening-overnight, Thursday daytime, and Friday afternoon-evening. Localized flooding is also possible. Otherwise, temperatures will continue running slightly on the warmer side of average for early-June, with daytime highs mainly low-mid 80s...and maybe a few spots into the 90s on Friday.

06/02/2026

An active upper level pattern and embedded disturbances will keep periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for the rest of this week. The main chances look to generally favor later in the day and into the evening and overnight hours. Some storms today through Thursday could be strong to severe, with damaging winds and large hail the main threats. Winds through Friday remain south to southeasterly, could see some gusts near 20 to 25 MPH this afternoon. High temperatures through the end of the week are generally in the 80s.

🐟 A Kansas fishing record that stood for more than 50 years has been broken!

On April 18, Michael Barnett of Baxter Springs landed a 33.6-pound, 63-inch-long longnose gar while bowfishing the Spring River, surpassing the previous state record set in 1974.

Longnose gar are one of Kansas' most unique native fish species, but fish of this size are rarely seen.

Congratulations to Michael on an incredible catch and a new Kansas state record!
