I have been working hard trying to provide the best large screen video performance for around 45 years now. At any given time frame there is always a price is no object reference quality large format display technology that only the super wealthy can afford. Supercalibrations has been lucky enough to have sold a few reference systems over the years and the results have been breathtakingly good.
Current reference displays are based on micro LED technology not unlike Jumbotron displays seen at sports venues. Sony's micro LED technology in a 110" diagonal configuration is around $150,000. The picture quality is to die for!
What is currently VERY interesting is that in the next few weeks Sony will be introducing a new price to performance breakthrough display utilizing "True RGB" technology. A 115" version will be around one fifth the Micro LED price and provide a high percentage of the performance. A 115" True RGB display should outperform any home theater projection system.
Imagine a 115" super bright image installed in most any room even with window shades open and lights on! No dark theater environment required.
This situation has got me measuring the walls in my own home :) As mentioned earlier Supercalibrations will be offering a free $400 video calibration with the sale of any True RGB display 75" or larger. Stay tuned as I will be posting more about Sony's new line shortly. Thanks! Dallas Di**le

Today, we use top-tier tools like the Klein K10-A colorimeter ($7,000) and Jeti Specbos 1211 spectroradiometer ($10,000), paired with Calman software, to calibrate to SMPTE standards—the exact colors filmmakers intended.

Supercalibrations has become a business sponsor for local public radio station KBEM which is 88.5 on your local Minneapolis/St.Paul radio dial or at jazz88.fm for internet streaming. You can also request your Alexa device to play Jazz 88. I really like the stations Jazz emphasis and have been a regular listener for decades.They are located in North Minneapolis High School and students attending North are regular on air DJs. Just for fun I have attached the audio "spot" they will play periodically on the air.

After 50 plus years of listening to home audio systems it has become very obvious that the most important part of the system by far is the room where the system is situated. One of my earliest experiences in home audio was bringing home a new amplifier and loudspeakers from a high end stereo store and and setting them up in my parents basement. Disappointingly the system sounded very bright and thin when compared to listening to the same speakers at the store. I next tried a larger amplifier, but the results were still bright and thin within the concrete walls and floors in the basement. I finally moved the system to my brothers home as a test and the results were hugely improved in his carpeted high ceiling environment. I was amazed at how much difference the room made! Long story short with huge strides in digital signal processing room acoustic distortions can now be greatly "corrected". Dirac Research is the leader in room correction DSP and have just recently released their latest version called "Active Room Treatment" I have been experimenting with ART at our office for several month now and the results are amazingly good! The price point for entry into Dirac's Active Room Treatment was just reduced with the introduction of lower cost surround receivers from Denon and Marantz(see the Denon 3800 attached below). I was at a clients home today and she gave me a Supercalibrations promotional folder we sent out in the early 1990s. Included was a reprint of an article in Video Magazine of an installation we completed in the late 1980s. Included a laserdisc player, VCR, cassette deck and other currently extinct formats. Fun memories of the early days of Supercalibrations!

High Quality audio systems can be extremely expensive, but recently a relatively low cost conduit to high end sound became available IMHO. Bluesound is a sister company to well know high value manufacturer NAD and like good siblings they share technology to make things sound better. One of the latest wireless hifi music streamers (it can be used as a stand alone preamp as well) from Bluesound is the Node N132 or more popularly known simply as the "Node". The Node incorporates a very high end ESS brand digital to audio convertor which is very similar to the ESS DAC found in the $5500 NAD M66 preamp and sells for $650! The DAC is analogous to the engine on a car so has a lot to do with the sound quality of a streamer or preamp. The result is really good reproduction! Another audio enhancing feature available for the Node is Dirac Live which is a magical digital signal processing algorithm allowing a component to correct for the distortions caused by very common room acoustic aberrations. We have a $15,000 surround processor in our office system that incorporates Dirac Live and utilizing Dirac is considered a requirement in order to achieve great sonic results in almost any environment. Dirac Live is a $250 option on the Bluesound Node! So for $900 you can have a LARGE percentage of the sound quality found on MUCH more expensive equipment. Highly recommended and in stock!
