I am sending this letter out to inform you that my knowledge of security that you may need is not my specialty. The only security that I have worked with is simple antivirus/malware programs. It is up to you if you feel the need to contact an IT specialist in that area. I will have to warn you that they are not cheap. I just wanted you to know this before your data gets compromised. I will continue to supply you with computers, support and repair if you need it. Thank you for your past and future business.
Sincerely,
Computer Solutions.

SCAM ALERT!! The con artists have launched another phishing campaign through the dissemination of lure 'Your OneDrive Is Inactive And Will Soon Be Deleted' scam emails. The spam emails are presented as notifications from Microsoft, regarding the recipient's OneDrive business account. Apparently, due to being inactive for over 6 months, the supposed business account is going to be deleted. To put further pressure on their victims, the fraudsters also claim that although the files associated with the account have been preserved for now that is only temporary. Unless the account has been reactivated, the user's files will be deleted.
Of course, none of the claims found in the 'Your OneDrive Is Inactive And Will Soon Be Deleted' scam emails are real. They serve only as part of the scare tactic that tricks users into opening the provided link. It should also be pointed out that Microsoft is in no way connected to these emails.
If users click on the 'Reactivate your account' button, they will be taken to a phishing portal designed to appear as close as possible to the legitimate OneDrive login page. By entering their account credentials into the corresponding fields, users risk having their accounts compromised. It is important to remember that the con artists could use the obtained credentials to try and expand their reach, by taking over other associated accounts. This could allow them to run disinformation campaigns, spread malware threats or perform other fraud.

New Fraudulent Email Circulating

Service Update

Fraudulent emails adopt many different forms and are the unauthorized actions of third parties not associated with UPS.. These email messages referred to as "phishing" or "spoofing" are becoming more common and may appear legitimate by incorporating company brands, colors, or other legal disclaimers.

There have been a number of fraudulent emails reported (see a current list of examples below), and new spoofs continue to be introduced. These types of emails point to invalid hyperlinks that are revealed when you hold your cursor over them. The invalid links may contain malware, which could potentially corrupt your computer.

These are not legitimate UPS communications, and should you receive any of these emails, do not follow any links provided or click on any attachments. Instead, simply delete the email. If you've accidentally selected a link, you should run a virus scan immediately.

Please be advised that UPS does not request payments, personal information, financial information, account numbers, IDs, passwords, or copies of invoices in an unsolicited manner through email, mail, phone, or fax or specifically in exchange for the transportation of goods or services. UPS accepts no responsibility for any costs or charges incurred as a result of fraudulent activity.

Avoiding technical support scams

Cybercriminals don't just send fraudulent email messages. They might call you on the telephone and claim to be from Microsoft. They might also setup websites with persistent pop-ups displaying fake warning messages and a phone number to call and get the “issue” fixed. They might offer to help solve your computer problems or sell you a software license. Once they have access to your computer, they can do the following:

Trick you into installing malicious software that could capture sensitive data, such as online banking user names and passwords. They might also then charge you to remove this software.

Convince you to visit legitimate websites to download software that will allow them to take control of your computer remotely and adjust settings to leave your computer vulnerable.

Request credit card information so they can bill you for phony services.

Direct you to fraudulent websites and ask you to enter credit card and other personal or financial information there.

“Remember, Microsoft will never proactively reach out to you to provide unsolicited PC or technical support. Any communication we have with you must be initiated by you.”
