Update for the Butterfly People.. We enjoyed the interactions! The knowledge and purpose your clubs brought us and the community!
We want to say we are incredibly sorry to you as well as the science teachers and the schools that also used our field for knowledge and experiments for the kids. Also to anyone we left off..
After many years of fighting to keep it the battle is over and we give up... The City and County now claim they wont uphold that it is a Monarch Habitat which was set in place by previous administrations. This has been a yearly argument for us since we started here.. Now it's been mowed down in the wrong times twice by them.... its safe to say the milkweed will not return and it will stay mowed per their demands.. This effectively ends all the wildlife in the office area.. It will only be in the Park which you can find them or we hope.. I say Hope because milkweed in that volume won't be found or replaced so death for the Monarch is more than likely what will happen..
Most don't know or realize the Butterfly Garden in Matter Park started with the milkweed that was at our office.. There used to be signs and we just last year was promised they would be replaced with new ones.. :( that wasn't the case...Milkweed also is all that Monarchs eat.
If you have any question or statements over it please feel free to send them to the Mayor's Office, County Departments, and or even the parks department.
Sorry Again...
