We have exciting news to share!! I am really excited to announce a new relationship with a longtime partner many of you already know well! Jim Engimann of Jupiter Payments and POSAdvisors will be working together under the umbrella of Jupiter Software to create a sustainable support structure and move quickly to finish development of EncorePOS to bring you all the updated features you need.

It has been my goal since I started POSAdvisors to build something that would be a lasting ‘home’ for my LiquorPOS customers, that would provide quality support for software and hardware and commit to development, so your stores continue to have software which adapts to the changing technology and your needs. My long partnership with Jupiter Payments tells me they understand the needs of my customers, are committed to providing quality support and excited about bringing new software options to the independent retail liquor stores.

I, and many of you, know that we have been able to count on Jupiter Payments over the years and now I and Jim, as well as his partners Colton and Vickie Partlow, look forward to many years of continuing to help you make the most of your business!

We’ve already hired an additional developer and are working to build out the support system. We’ll have updates down the road for you on contacting us quickly and easily but for now you just keep calling or texting Billy and I as we plan no immediate changes.

Well, there is one change. Bookkeeping is and always has been a challenge for me – just ask my poor CPA – so I am going to let the new team take over the billing as soon as possible. The only change you should see is that your email receipts will look a little different. And if you would prefer to do an ACH for your monthly fee, let us know. I never managed to get that going and I know many of you would prefer that option.

I’ll be happy to talk with any of you about our plans – just give me a call! – and I look forward to sharing lots more exciting updates in the coming weeks and months!

I learned something today which I thought you all might find useful. All new PAX S300 credit card processing units are required to reboot themselves once a day to meet PCI requirements. There is no setting to indicate what time it might be convenient for you to have this happen but should you get a new PAX S300 that is rebooting at a time you do not want it to all you have to do is pick a time of day -- ideally after you close for the day and not too close to the batch time you have set -- and reboot the PAX unit yourself by unplugging it and then plugging it back in and letting it come back up. It will then reboot itself every 24 hours at that time instead of whatever random time it had been doing so.

And if the power goes out and these are not plugged into a battery backup you'd have to do this all over again 🙄

I am thrilled (and, honestly, very relieved) to be able to tell you that our EncorePOS Inventory App is back in the App Store and you are able to download it for your iPhones again! Just open the App Store and search for POSAdvisors and there it is!

A couple things to keep in mind:

***We made a couple of changes which will require an update to your installed EncorePOS version for you to be able to use the new App. We have been working to get many of you updated outside business hours but if you are downloading the App just shoot us a reply to this email and we'll get you on the latest version quickly -- you do not have to be out of LiquorPOS and no reboot is required so this can be done at any time.

***While we are not quite back in the Google Play Store (give us a few more days) we do have a manual install which we can walk you through. Once in the Play Store, the App will require the same update as the IOs version.

We are super excited to announce that we have released a new version of EncorePOS which includes an exciting NEW Purchasing Module which will revolutionize how you use your LiquorPOS software. No longer will you spend tedious hours entering product received. You’ll simply download a file, pull it into EncorePOS, review it and receive it. You can even import the files using EncorePOS and then allow your staff to check in and receive against those Purchase Orders using LiquorPOS! Create and Export Purchase Orders to Excel or CSV files! With the current cost of man hours this is a monumental improvement for your business!!

Tips for the July 4th Weekend!

This is a big weekend coming up and you can best prepare your system to perform as well as possible by doing a few of simple things:

1. Reboot all the computers and let them run any pending updates.
2. Run a FULL SET Reindex.
3. Reboot all the PAX units -- to do this you just unplug them, count to 20 and plug them back in. Like any electronic device they do better with an occasional reboot and will run a bit faster.
4. Make sure you have sufficient registers set to run in Stand Alone in case it all goes to h*** in a handbasket!

EncorePOS has so much to offer LiquorPOS users these days! We've released our new version and have lots of features in the works -- including a updated Purchasing and Receiving module which will help you import your Purchase Orders and Invoices! Here's a full list of current features:

NEW RELEASE!! Version 1.2.200.903! We are happy to announce the release of our latest version. Please reach out if you just can't wait to begin using them but otherwise Billy and I will be getting all your stores updated over the next couple of weeks!

New Features:
1. Wholesale Customer Report: If you need to report your Wholesale business to the state this new report will allow you to pre-select the fields you need to export and then run a report which can then be kicked to Excel or printed depending upon how your State might require it.
2. Drill-down to invoices and receivers in the Inventory Performance Report: Now you can drill through this report to see and print the individual invoices and receivers for the products listed in this report. Just hover your mouse over either the Quantity Sold or the Quantity Purchased column and click when you see the magnifying glass. To drill further to the actual invoice or receiver hover over the Invoice Number or Receiver field and click when you see the magnifying glass. To print just click on the printer icon.
3. Added support for online orders from Bottlenose: In addition to City Hive and Drizly, you can now use our online order module to process orders from Bottlenose.

Enhancements:
1. Daily Report supports Date Range: Now you can run the daily report for any desired date range. Just click on the “Custom” option and enter the dates you want. You can still drill through on credit card, gift card and other fields to see the details of those transactions and even print invoices.
2. Added Department percent of sales in Daily Summary Report: We have added these columns to the Daily Summary Report at the request of a number of stores.
3. Added Tax Exempt and Untaxed columns to the Daily Summary Report: These columns have also been added at the request of a number of customers.
4. Made changes to City Hive email parsing to allow for their new format.

Fixes:
1. Changes to support for the Inventory Count App to keep last cost and system QOH settings active.
2. We continue to make changes behind the scenes to promote speed and stability!

EncorePOS Tech Tip: Windows 11:

By now I expect many of you have computers suggesting you upgrade to Windows 11. Just don't. Liquor stores do not need to be on the bleeding edge of technology and the Windows 11 updates have not been going smoothly enough to risk your productivity. I'm sure that will improve over the coming months and there will come a time when the upgrade is the right or necessary thing to do but for now -- just don't.

I'll be keeping an eye on how the upgrades are going as well as how LiquorPOS functions under Windows 11 and be letting you know my thoughts as the rollout continues. And there is no rush to update as support for Windows 10 (and therefore the security patches that keep your system PCI Compliant) will continue until 2025.

There does not seem to be an easy way to turn off the Windows 11 updates. When your machines prompt you to update just select 'Stay with Windows 10 for now'. You may have to do this over and over for the next few months as Microsoft seems a bit persistent about this upgrade. If you accidentally do upgrade to Windows 11 and instantly regret it, you have only ten days to roll back to Windows 10.

To do so go to the Start menu > Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Recovery > Previous version of Windows and let it do it's thing.
