Here's something meaningful, and this is directed primarily at the 50+ crowd.

We live in a time where there is an expectation - not a hope, but an actual expectation, that you are computer savvy enough to be able to fill out forms, attach photos, and jump through many hoops in order to just get by when it comes to interacting with society.

Here's an example: you make a purchase. You begin to use whatever the product is, and all is well. But while it's within the warranty period, you notice that it has become defective. No problem, right? Usually wrong, actually. They want you to go through a process that doesn't involve talking to people. Everything needs to be done digitally or you're out of luck. In other words, if you don't know how to send an email with an attachment of a photo that you had to take with your phone (and you want to send the email from your computer, though the phone is an option), you're essentially stuck with a defective product THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. How many people do you think this happens to? Well, we think that within the over 50 crowd, the answer is many of them. It's not right, it's bad business, and it's unlikely to do anything but get worse.

So here's the good news. We can help you with this stuff. Schedule an appointment and you can bring your stuff to us or we can come to you. Your iPhone has software built into it that can end Spam calls once and for all. Personally, I get an inordinate number of them because I don't try to hide my phone number from anyone, so it's really "out there". But I get tired of call after call from unknown numbers. So I'm going to explain how to fix this problem, but I want to tell you how to really do it right.

There's a setting that will send all calls straight to your voicemail without the phone ever ringing EXCEPT for numbers in your contacts and numbers not in your contacts but with whom you've had previous phone conversations.

This means that when it's on, if you get a call from, let's say your doctor's office, unless the specific number they call from is in your contacts, it's probably going to go into your voicemail and you'll miss the call. That's why you should probably change your outgoing message to let the caller know that if it's a legitimate call, please leave a voicemail and you'll get back to them quickly. Because if you use this, you're definitely going to miss calls from people you want to speak with, but if they know why you missed the call, they're likely to leave a voicemail. So make sure to change your outgoing message. Mine says something like this:

Hi and thanks for calling. This phone is set up to send unknown phone numbers straight to voicemail. If you think you're someone I want to talk to, please leave a message. If you're a solicitor, don't bother - I assure you, I won't be calling you back. If you're calling about anything computer related, please call my office at 314-878-2878. Thanks.

It's not completely rude but it's to the point. Okay, so what do you need to do to make this actually happen? This:
Settings>Apps>Phone>Silence Unknown Callers.

In other words go to Settings on your phone
Scroll down to Apps and press it
Scroll waaaaay down to Phone and press it
Scroll down till you see Silence Unknown Callers and flip the switch to the on position

That's all there is to it.
