TECH TIP TUESDAY!!!

By now I'm sure you've dabbled in using some AI platform, but do you know how to really use AI to get the most from it?

The first thing is you must not treat AI like you would a Google search. Think of AI like an executive assistant or a real person. You wouldn't ask a real person a very basic or generic question and hope for a great result right? Here is an example:

Instead of asking AI to "Write me an email to a prospect from our webinar."

Say something like "You are a senior account manager at a B2B firm. Write me a 150 word follow up email to a prospect who attended our webinar on cost reduction but hasn't responded in 5 days. Make the tone professional but not pushy. Include one specific reference to the webinar's ROI calculator."

Being more clear, concise, and detail oriented will always produce better results. Remember you can ask AI follow up questions to the results it provides just like you would a real person. You don't need to be satisfied with the first result. Keep working until it produces something you are satisfied with.

TECH TIP TUESDAY!!!

Just a little quick tip today about your docking station. Did you know that some docking stations have an extended power button for your laptop?

What that means is that you don't need to open your laptop lid to power it on before you connect the dock or close the lid. You can keep your lid of your laptop closed and just hit the power button on the top of the docking station and that will power on your laptop.

Mind blown!!!!

TECH TIP TUESDAY!!!

Have you restarted your device?

Ahh the question us IT professionals always feel bad asking, but it fixes so many issues. Rebooting your devices clears the memory out and gives the device a fresh start. Try getting into the habit of at least rebooting your devices weekly. This would include your phones and tablets.

So before you get ready to call IT support, reboot that device first and see if that fixes it. Your devices will thank you...and so will your IT department! :)

TECH TIP TUESDAY!!!

Did you know that if you use Google Maps or Apple Maps to navigate to your destination, that they could potentially send you to a different location?

It all depends on whether the business has updated their address correctly on both platforms. A business needs to create a Google and Apple Business profile, and make sure they update their address on both platforms. If not, then you may be routed to the wrong destination.

We recommend going to the company's website first to confirm the address before putting it in your GPS.

TECH TIP TUESDAY!!!

QR code scams (or "quishing") are dangerous because they bypass the visual link checks people usually rely on.

Unlike email phishing, physical tampering bridges the gap between the offline and online worlds, making the scam appear highly legitimate. The fallout can range from the theft of a single password to full device compromise and identity theft.

Here are a few examples on how threat actors implement these scams:

Swapped Parking Meters: Scammers place fake QR stickers over legitimate city parking or transit codes, tricking you into paying a cloned site.
Fake Delivery Texts: You receive a message about a "missed package" urging you to scan a QR code to reschedule, which leads to a data-harvesting form.
Restaurant Menu Swaps: Fraudsters paste bogus codes over official table menus to steal credit card details

Here are a few ways you can protect yourself:

Inspect before scanning: Look for stickers placed over the original code or signs of tampering.
Preview the link: Most modern phone cameras display the website URL before you open it. Ensure the URL is official.
Never enter sensitive details: Legitimate restaurants or parking services rarely require you to log in or provide passwords after scanning a QR code.
Go direct: If you need to pay for parking or confirm a delivery, manually navigate to the official website or use a trusted app rather than relying on a code

Just remember that not all QR codes are safe. Take your time and use your best judgement when scanning these with your phone. Stay safe!

TECH TIP TUESDAY!!!

Did you know that the average American spends 7 hours per day looking at their computer and another 2 hours on their phone? Blinking drops from 15-20 blinks per minute to 3-7 blinks when using a digital device. This can lead to severe dry eye.

Here are a few helpful tips to help those important eyes of ours:

Follow the 20-20-20 Rule - Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
Adjust your monitor height - Screens should be at eye level and at an arm's length away.
Increase the text size if you feel yourself squinting.
Enable blue light filters in the evening.

Spend more time taking care of your eyes. It's the only pair you get!
