Ever wonder why some brochures and websites just look "off" when you look at the blocks of copy? There is an ideal width, in characters, that enables your brain to track the line of copy and easily re-orient to the next line. If the width is too short, the reader's experience is splintered and tiring. And if it is too long, it is also a chore moving down the page.
Fathom's in-house rule is not to exceed 70 characters. 60 is ideal. In a pinch, we are skilled editors as well as designers and can help you get your copy to a good length. We can also use AI to edit for length...with results that have been amazingly good.
