Tech901 Tech901 is a Memphis-based nonprofit providing career-focused technology training built around industry-recognized certifications.

Tech901 is a Memphis-based nonprofit helping adults build technology skills, earn industry certifications, and connect to career opportunities across the Mid-South. Support from employers, foundations, and community partners allows us to significantly reduce the cost of training for our students. Our programs are designed for adults entering technology from different starting points, with clear prerequisites and pathways that build skills and certifications along the way. Courses are instructor-led and hybrid, combining live instruction with required in-person experiences, including orientation, labs, assessments, and certification exams. Students are expected to actively participate, meet course requirements, pursue certification, and stay connected with Tech901 as they move toward their career goals.

When you sign up for Tech901, you get hands-on labs where you take laptops and desktops apart, mock interviews with real Memphis recruiters, a certification voucher, and a Pearson VUE testing center right here in our building - so you train, prep, and sit for the exam without ever leaving Crosstown.

These courses run $3,500+ almost anywhere else.

Memphis is getting data centers and the question nobody’s really answering is whether Memphians are getting the jobs. 🤔

A $575 million permit was filed this month for a data center on Getwell Road with 250+ jobs. Google’s West Memphis facility is expected to bring around 300 more.

They’re hiring facilities technicians right now and most of these roles don’t require a four-year degree.

Entry-level technician jobs generally land somewhere around $50–65K. What they do require is certification - and the ones that show up in the postings are CompTIA A+ and Network+.

Tech Essentials gets you CompTIA Tech+. IT Foundations gets you A+. Network+ is the step after.

At Tech901, we spend 9 weeks teaching people how attackers get in. Here’s what our IT Security instructor does on his own phone ↓🔐

1️⃣ Turn on multi-factor authentication.
A password alone shouldn’t be the only thing protecting your accounts.

2️⃣ Stop reusing passwords.
If one account gets compromised, your other accounts could be at risk too.

3️⃣ Think before you click. 👀
Unexpected links and attachments can be signs of phishing. Verify before you click.

4️⃣ Keep your devices updated.
Updates can include important security fixes.

5️⃣ Know what you’re protecting.
Your data, accounts, devices, and network all come with different risks.

None of this is advanced, it’s the fundamentals to learn and fundamentals is exactly where our IT Security course starts before it gets into threat detection, network security, risk management, and incident response.
