How much does it actually cost to run a satellite phone?

Probably less than you think.

One of the biggest misconceptions around satellite phones is that buying the handset means signing yourself up for a huge monthly bill. That isn't necessarily the case.

Having trouble with your Iridium satellite phone?

If your satellite phone isn’t working as expected, it doesn’t always mean there’s a problem with the handset.

A few simple checks can often get you back up and running:

👉 Make sure you’re outside with a clear view of the sky. Buildings, trees and surrounding terrain can all affect the signal.
👉 Check the antenna is fully extended and positioned correctly.
👉 Make sure your SIM and airtime are still active.
👉 Give the phone a proper test before you head somewhere remote. It’s much better to spot an issue at home than when you actually need to use it.
👉 Check whether your handset firmware is up to date.
