Gigabyte announces support for Chinese-made CXMT memory — pushes it to 8200 MT/s on Socket AM5
We definitely need more RAM options, whatever they are. This memory crisis is going crazy.

The performance is impressive and it's good to see official support, but the question remains whether you can actually buy any of it.

Another lawsuit against DRAM monopolists. It will likely not get anywhere, but it highlights the issues we have in the memory market now.

A California class action accuses the three memory makers of choking DDR3 and DDR4 supply.

Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus review: Back from the brink.
Seriously, Intel Ultra series is not bad. We really like 265K because it's cool (cold :-) and feels very responsive in everything. X3D wins in gaming, but if you want options, Intel got some. And of course 270K is a step in the right direction.

Unbelievable productivity performance at an even more unbelievable price – shame gaming still takes a backseat.

This is ridiculous:
Micron predicts that cars will need 300GB of RAM — memory-laden vehicles could exacerbate shortages but create 'robust long-term growth in automotive memory demand'

Self-driving cars are essentially AI supercomputers on wheels.

Intel announces Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs, claims 15% higher gaming performance and multi-threaded boost — Core Ultra 7 270K and Core Ultra 5 250K come with more cores, faster memory, and a price cut
It's definitely something we like to see, as Intel is not that much competitive with AMD right now. We like the power-efficient and reliable Core Ultra series, but it does lack a bit on the performance side. And AMD can easily win the price war.

Arrow Lake is suddenly looking a lot more attractive.

Phison CEO says that NAND prices hiked by around 50% overnight, highlighting severe shortage in the industry — warns 'our current concern is that both money and inventory are insufficient'.
Technically, it's not 50% as we see it. 2TB NVMe drives were around $70-100 on average 6 months ago, depending on manufacturer and model. Right now the same 2TB drives are in the $240-350 range. So you do the math.
That's on top of 400% DDR5 RAM price increases.
You get the picture, very sad picture for the PC industry and beyond (cell phones, tablets, anything with memory....)

Phison is increasingly serving cloud service providers and AI hyperscalers, with enterprise customers now hitting 30% of its revenue share from a previous 10% last quarter.

Entry-level PC market to ‘disappear’ by 2028 — rising memory prices pile more strain on consumer PC market. Memory is on track to account for 23% of a PC's total bill of materials in 2026, up from 16% last year.
It's literally hard to build a budget PC these days, unless you are ready to settle for 16GB RAM and 500GB SSD for the same price 32G/2TB went last year.
There is no light at the end of the tunnel.

Nvidia keeps giving us gifts that kill gaming community. Now it's shortage of gaming GPU supply, for no direct reason, just because.
We all know about shifting production to AI dedicated chips and a shortage of DDR7 and all that, but still.... Gamers literally made Nvidia what it is today, some payback would be nice at these times.
By the way AMD Radeon sales are not going up, but why? Do you guys think Radeon is not as good? At the current prices and supply levels it may be a good idea to support Nvidia's rival, because AMD is on the same level of performance and can be purchased for less $$$. Do your math. Oh, and even older ARC A750 is not bad now, with refurbs in a perfect condition found for $150 - perfect for 1080p gaming with Intel driver improvements.

But who is to blame?

Intel expects its Core Ultra series 4 processors, codenamed [Nova Lake,](https://www.tomshardware.com/.../intels-nova-lake-cpu...) to change its fortunes on the desktop and laptop markets and finally offer performance that is higher compared to direct competitors from AMD. However, another important factor to consider will be the costs of these CPUs, and if the alleged Nova Lake compute chiplet die sizes leaked by [](https://x.com/9550pro/status/2021542795375513601) are accurate, these processors will be anything but cheap to make.

But that is with bLLC.

AMD CEO downplays PC memory crunch, saying 'our focus areas are enterprise' — company wants to focus on growing 'higher-end of the market'. AMD expects its PC business to grow this year, but also expects the market overall to shrink.
Yes, it's going to shrink, lol, with these GPU/RAM/SSD prices, there are a lot fewer people willing to pay that much just to play games.
