šŸ–„ļø Monitor Mystery Solved!
Connecting a monitor shouldn’t feel like rocket science, so here’s your quick guide to VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort — the holy trinity of monitor hookups.

1ļøāƒ£ Know what your monitor supports
Newer monitors often have multiple ports. Older ones might only have VGA (the blue, chunky one with screws). Take a peek before you panic.

2ļøāƒ£ Know what your computer supports
If your monitor is VGA but your computer only has HDMI or DisplayPort — don’t sweat it. šŸ’” There’s a cheap adapter for that. We keep them in stock because this happens all the time.

3ļøāƒ£ HDMI vs. DisplayPort — which is better?
If both your monitor and computer support them, go DisplayPort.
Why?
- Higher bandwidth
- Better support for high refresh rates
- More stable for gaming + multitasking
- Basically the VIP pass of monitor connections

At High Tech Hobbies, we help you figure this out in seconds — no tech dictionary required.

🧰 Workbench Wednesday: Power Check in Progress
Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes when we test a computer’s health? Here’s Nate using an Antec power supply tester to verify voltage output before powering up a system. This tool checks that the PSU delivers stable voltages across all rails — 3.3V, 5V, and 12V — ensuring the motherboard and components get clean, reliable power.

It’s a quick but critical step in diagnosing startup issues or confirming a build’s stability. Think of it as a ā€œpulse checkā€ for your PC’s heart! ā¤ļøšŸ’»

šŸ–„ļø Tech Tip Tuesday!
Today’s reminder from the repair bench:
Your computer can’t fix what you won’t restart.

If your apps are glitching, your Wi‑Fi is moody, or your laptop is acting like it woke up on the wrong side of the motherboard…
šŸ”„ Restart it.
It’s the tech equivalent of a deep breath, a snack, and a nap — all in one.

Your future self (and your computer) will thank you.

🧰 Thinking about getting your computer repaired?
Here are the top 3 questions you should ask…
(And yes — we answer all of these automatically, even if you don’t.)

1ļøāƒ£ ā€œWhat’s actually wrong with it?ā€
Some shops give you techno‑babble.
We give you the real answer — in plain English, no decoder ring required.

2ļøāƒ£ ā€œIs the repair worth it?ā€
We’ll tell you the fix, the alternatives, the cost, and whether it’s smarter to repair or replace.
If it’s not worth the money, we’ll say so. Loudly.

3ļøāƒ£ ā€œHow long will this take — and what if it breaks again?ā€
You get a timeline, a plan, and warranty info upfront.
No mystery. No disappearing‑into-the-void repairs.

At High Tech Hobbies, we don’t wait for you to ask the important stuff —
we answer it before you even think of it.
Because tech repairs shouldn’t feel like a trust fall.

Warhammer Update of the DECADE!
🄁 It’s been nearly a decade… but the wait is OVER. Now taking pre-orders for 8/29 release!

The Ogors have stomped their way back into Warhammer, and they’re hungrier than ever.

These brutes don’t just play the game — they devour it. šŸ–āš”ļø
Whether you’re building your first army or adding some muscle to your collection, the Ogors bring big appetites, bigger personalities, and the biggest bases you’ve seen in years.

šŸ’„ New faction. New minis. Same glorious chaos.
Come see what’s cooking in the Mortal Realms — and maybe grab a snack before the Ogors do.

It's that time of year - Students are moving back on campus and bam...the IT questions come rolling in. #1 question this week? šŸ“¶āœØ My dorm Wi‑Fi is acting like it’s powered by a potato?
Don’t panic. Don’t cry. Don’t yeet your laptop.
Do this instead:

šŸ”„ Pro Tip #1: If your dorm has an Ethernet port… USE IT.
It’s like plugging your device straight into the internet’s bloodstream.

⚔ Pro Tip #2: Switch to 5 GHz.
Because 2.4 GHz is basically the dial‑up of dorm life.

šŸ“± Pro Tip #3: Hotspot your phone when the Wi‑Fi taps out.
Emergency quizzes, Zoom calls, and midnight assignment uploads = saved.

🚫 Pro Tip #4: Before you buy a router, check campus rules.
Some colleges treat personal routers like contraband.

šŸ› ļø Pro Tip #5: If everything is still terrible…
Submit that IT ticket. You might be living in a certified Dead Zoneā„¢.

šŸ”„ Collector Throwback Friday — ā€œIf You Could Bring Back ANY Setā€¦ā€
If you could bring back any one retired or vintage card set, what would you resurrect?

Would you choose a Magic: The Gathering classic like:

Revised (1994)
Urza’s Saga (1998)
Lorwyn (2007)

Or maybe a PokƩmon favorite like:

Base Set (1999)
Neo Genesis (2000)
EX Team Rocket Returns (2004)

Or go full nostalgia with sports cards, like:

1986–87 Fleer Basketball — Michael Jordan’s iconic rookie year
1989 Upper Deck Baseball — Ken Griffey Jr.’s legendary rookie
1993 SP Baseball — the Derek Jeter foil that haunts collectors

Tell us your dream reprint or revival.
šŸ“ø Bonus points if you drop a pic of your favorite card from that era.
